Just went by the place . It is closed.
I know it been for sales for years. There has been a
Orange liquior control application in the window for months.
Clearly whoever wanted it could not get it.
Did Billy Wagner just walk away and say to hell with it.
Or did the Liquior control board shut them down.. Does any
know
His main problem is then he hired Paula Holder to be
manager she dragged the drugies in too.
Sad then Joe Mentley and Dale Jones owned the place it was
a neighborhood bar..
Now it is likely doing to become a empty building that goes
down hill rapidly.
We did enjoy many years there

Mentley's/ to Dale's, it was a good time then.

Neighborhood was a lot better, you could park a block away and walk with no problem.

I doubt you could do that now.

Shame what's happened.

When Joe Mently owned it, he had a bartender by the neme of Dick Kindle. He would give away the farm to the patrons and also get drunk with them behind the bar because he lived three houses away. I lived close by and it seemed he was also sloshed. What Mently didn't spend, Kindle the drunl would. Now his one son is a walking drunk who I see at the Elk's on Peninsula. Obnoxious too.

Wrong Wrong Wrong. The bartender you are thinking of was Dick
Miller. He lived three house up from 8th and Cascade on Cascade
and shared a house with Billy Gilbert.
Dick had no children only a neice named Joanie..
Dick Died in 2001 of Cancer.
The Kindle Family who included a constable lived about three
houses West of the Bar..
The only time Dick Miller drank then was then he was off duty.

Then you think of Dick Miller you have to think of
" Duke" the elderly guy who nursed his drink .Was in
his 80's smart as a tack.. Only he liked or he would
not want anything to do with you. Loved Baseball...
