which would you choose and why?

The only answer to this is that it depends on the procedure you are having.

Both Hospitals are staffed with many fine talented people.

Sure, you are going to hear horror stories about both of them but for every horror story there are two dozen good stories ......

So getting back to the question .......depends on the porcedure.

I'm definitely moving my care to st. vincents. I dont want a rookie working on me, I'm not a learning tool nor do I desire to be one! I want someone I know is well trained in whatever field.
I also would rather stay in Erie than get sent to pittsburgh for my care! I urge all to do the same, unless you like being the ginnypig, practice dummy?

Take a look at lawsuits filed against each, St. Vincent has a horrible track record. I wouldn't take my dead dog to St. Vincents.

St. Vincents track record is well above that of hamot. you can google that for the facts. blondie your showing you are a true blond by making dumb statements like that! You are a true blond, most people wouldn't take a dead animal to the hospital, usually you just bury the animal! hamot harvests organs from living people...try and top that one knucklehead!

How long have you worked in the legal field? I've worked in the legal field in Erie for 20+ years for a defense law firm representing St. Vincent in all the lawsuits filed against St. Vincent so I speak from experience.

And, the statement "I wouldn't take my dead dog to St. Vincent" is just something always said by fellow employees when talking about St. Vincent in that the hospital isn't worthy of even treating animals and that we could probably get better treatment from a vetinary hospital versus St. Vincent.

Whatever is growing in your innumerable cracks and laps will be better off at St V's.

I'm going to guess that the terms "learning tool", "ginnypig"(try using spell check next time), and "practice dummy" refer to the fact that students work at Hamot. If I'm correct, your going to faint when you read my next statement. LECOM students pick up hours at ALL local hospitals! That's right...even St. V. It's required that we pick up training hours. Personally I would rather practice on those that have dontated their bodies to us to learn on. They really cared enough to help...even after death. It's people like you that make our jobs and our learning almost impossible sometimes. If it makes you feel any better...even the "old" doctors view you as one step above death...if you weren't, you wouldn't be at the hospital in the first place.

dontated????? I will not correct you, I dont need to do that to feel good about myself like some uneducated wanna be doctor! St. V's has far less rookies practicing there than any other area hospital! Lecom as a school is one of the lowest ranking in the country. they let anyone in who can pass a simpe test. most medical schools turn a few applicants away...NOT LECOM!! they are in it for the almighty buck. I've seen many a moron pass through that school! good luck kid! I'm saing as of today and the public info act...you can google this and you will see hamot as more lawsuits pending than St. V's! millcreek has the most which is a clear indication of all the rookies making mistakes at a school not a hospital(millcreek!!! this is lecoms learning ground, I woldn't take a sick animal there! but the less lecom flunkies the better the hospital and better chances of a positive outsome! keep studying son

Hamot -- better view on the North Side.

Actually, both my sons were born there.

Millcreek Chamber of Horrors (as it is referred to by LECOM students) is not even a real hospital. It's a joke to Erie's legitimate medical community. Nobody takes it seriously. It's known for patient abuse and bloody mattresses in their maternity ward.

I have had good and bad experiences at both hospitals. But, I did have a very big problem with St. V's when I took my daughter there because we thought that she has broke her finger. Well, long story short, they ex-rayed the wrong finger! I couldn't help but think to my self if they can't get a simple ex-ray of a finger right, than I'm not going to trust them with something more serious.

Now, for those who are against student Dr.'s, remember, everyone has to start some place & the older Dr.'s were students once as well. I for one don't have an issue with a student dr., but, I also want the "real" dr. in the room as well.

they can't do anything for a brokeen finger but splint it? they probably thought if you were dumb enough to bring someone in with a broken finger you wouldn't have a clue if they xrayed the wrong hand?LOL!!

That is simply not nice! I recently broke my toe and I know that they cannot do anything for that except buddy tape it, but I still went to the ER because of all of the swelling. And this is a child that we are talking about. You are just a sarcastic dolt!

My vote is for St. Vincent because for years they propped up ( literally ) my drunken idol Jane Anderson in the role of Vice President of Marketing.A role in which she used to abuse those under her thumb while she got sloshed at every social event she could attend that offered an open bar. Is she dead yet?

Not the point, she was only 9yrs old at the time & I was doing what any responsible should do. And the way her hand look I couldn't tell if it was just her finger or her whole hand & I dame sure wasn't taking any chances. But I was so mad that when they sent us I back to x-ray, I asked the new if he could read because the last one sure couldn't! He probably thought I was crazy! LOL
