So true. The best and brightest young people know this and often seek out and relocate to more promising venues. If Erie were truly a "hidden gem" as once foolishly claimed it would see its population swell with an influx of hopefuls. The exact opposite has been the reality for a long time now. The quality of young people that remain are those most likely to be those who are under educated, clueless, and hopeless. Worst of all they have learned well from previous Erie generations that the solutions to problems must come from the efforts of others, never from oneself. That cancerous mindset is one that will never be overcome in this area thus accelerating the rapid downfall.

I agree in principle to what you post.....but look at the starry eyed Liberal failure we are going to have in the office . Maybe she can get either Nancy Pelosi as "Roar On The Shore Parade Marshal or
Barney Frank as the event co-ordinator for the Poker Run.

Erie County craves strong leadership? Really? I submit that strong leadership is the very last thing Erie County, especially Erie City wants. Leadership requires followers. Following a leader requires effort. Erieites simply do not want to expend any effort to improve. They are more happy watching the continued decline of the area, all the while whining about the need for Washington and Harrisburg to give them more.

Sure, follow the leader. Another import driving zealot that preaches "keep it made in Erie". Right, how about "keep it made in America"? Just give me your tax money, I'll show you how to spend it on my selfish self. Morons, tax cheating morons that take without giving back.

I bet you drive an "import", stupid.
You mean to say "non-union" because that's what really matters to you.

You appear to be a low information poster .....There are two factions of private industry labor....Union & Non Union. Union membership is currently at 7% & falling while Non Union is at 93% & rising.
Belief in the good for what Unions provided many years ago is an established fact.
So is the reality Unions no longer represent what the American worker really needs is on going education & training to be able to compete with foreign competition.
Bitch all you want but we are failing in the international markets & some states have figured this out & are making decisions to meet that foreign competition. If unionized labor wants to be a part of those choices...fundamental changes in mind set, company co-operation & productivity will be required

Then Joe Sinnott said "What's leadership? Is that a song I can sing at karaoke? Can someone who's in charge please explain leadership to me?".

My question is this: Why won't the Times-News REALLY call the Mayor out as the complete and total failure he has shown himself to be? Take off the gloves.

Population continues to decline, crime is up, poverty is growing especially among children, taxes up 30% since he took over and you know there is another 14% hike this year if no one challenges him in November.

City services suck - poor snow plowing and roads that look like they belong in Iraq.

Zero vision.

Unsold town homes and his hack crony Kim Green still getting paid by the bankrupt ERA.

Just announced $2 million in street repairs but $1.5 to be done by outside contractors. Why do we have 45+ people working in the streets department? What do they do all year? At the rate we repair streets it will take almost 80 years to re-do every mile of pavement in the city. 80 years. Think your road looks bad now? What 15 years and tell me then.

The Mayor has ZERO plan to dig out of this mess.

??????????

Amazing how many of these "union" clowns have their signs up & a driveway full of imports. Hypocrites. Meanwhile both sides of the political "spectcrumb" are lobbing zingers at each other. They don't represent me, or anyone with common sense. This town is full of people that lack any real vision.

Spot on Crank. Erie has no interest in self improvement or self reliance. Erie wants to be given a fish and sees no value in learning how to fish. This is the depth to where Erie has plunged and they seem not to mind in the least. The ability to even understand this concept is far beyond the cognitive power of the Erie masses.

Erie hasn't had a good mayor since Joyce Savacchio and the county leadership has been a joke ever since home rule installed the County Executive/Council system. The old 3 commissioner system worked a lot better. Will the last person leaving Erie please turn out the lights>
