Erie County Democratic Party Chairman Bill Cole is giving his response to remarks made today by Governor Corbett during the governor's visit to Erie.

Corbett stressed the need for pension reform in Pennsylvania, but Cole says this is not the way to go. He says changing Pennsylvania's pension system would place a burden on retirees and the middle class

This is a perfect example of a looser Democrat saying we do not have to have pension reform for politicians and teachers, even though almost 2/3 of every tax dollar goes toward pensions. Where do they dig up these wacco black dems? We NEED pension reform a s s h ole.

People need to realize that public school teachers are always the smartest people in the room and that's why we must not ever even entertain the thought of reducing their pensions. Taxpayers will just have to pony up more dollars to keep their pensions and retirement life sustainable to the standards the teachers expect. The rest of you taxpayers need to realize that teachers work so very hard that they are entitled to retire at age 50 - 55. Your hard earned dollars are necessary to ensure a long and pleasurable retirement for these most valuable of all public servants so please don't entertain thoughts of retiring too early yourself because they need more of your cash for their reliable security. And remember, the teachers pay for their health care too, not nearly as much as you do but they still pay. Come to think of it, teachers should be given free health care because they are, after all, the smartest ones in the room. Don't believe it ? Just ask them. They reinforce that among themselves all the time in matters of their entitlements. The trouble is, always being the smartest in the room only applies when that room is their tiny box spaced classroom full of children. That's where they rule and that's where their view of the world is forged for those 25 - 30 years. So please, don't dig into their pensions.

They're not gouging the taxpayer. They're receiving their just rewards for what was promised to them. The rest of us have to hope that our retirement savings and plans stay healthy. The teachers are ensured that their pensions will always be there for them just as they expect. Taxpayers will have to make up any deficits that may occur. You need understand that's only fair and proper. Teachers are very, very special people.

Your teachers wre obviously abject failures. We can all see the results in every one of your posts. Of course even the best teachers can't be expected to succeed when they have so little to work with initially. You just can't expect chicken salad to be made from chicken shit.

Rest of us worry year to year about if we will have a job, do not get a "guaranteed" pension, nor get the luxurious health benefits for very small contribution they give towards it. We are supposed to be happy guaranteeing teachers can retire early with a nice pension.
I don't want any teacher crying about being poor!!!(like they make a huge sacrifice beinga teacher!!!) Heck, teachers in some way are better off than many of us because the security blanket they get. Some probably can spend extravagantly since they know a pension awaits them.

No, you need to unwind a GOP and Tom Ridge scheme to bribe the legislature with golden pension shekels to pass a law routing public money to Catholic schools. You GOPers cooked up the problem; you fix it.

You mean every word of it I'm sure. The hayday of the teachers is coming to an end because the economy can't keep up. But when people either can't pay or refuse to pay the gravy train ends. Look what happened in Scranton PA. Those public employees went to min wage when they went bankrupt. Teacher pay will return to the way it was in the 60's. Or even in Greece, public sector people were retiring at 40. Look what happened there. There is a groundswell wave of property owners just waiting to swallow officials and even the teachers themselves that want money and benefits more than they care about the kids.

teachers are over paid part time employees thats all. they only work 5 to 6 months out of the year and cry like little girls with skinned knees that they dont get shit. they get every known holiday to man off, personal days, sick days and summers off. they dont pay anything or very little for their healthcare, their pensions are paid in full by the taxpayers and even if they rape a kid its still almost impossible to fire them! theres no on going education once you are a teacher in certain subjects like math 2 plus 2 is always 4. i can go on and on how teachers are like vacuums sucking and sucking off the taxpayers titties and im sure there will be the teacher defenders out there blah blah blah. anything anyone of these teachers" can teach me i can learn on my own getting free books from the library you know books the things we used to learn from.

You're just plain ignorant. That's why I don't pay you shit and that's why all your efforts do nothing but enrich me. You don't know a damn thing about what it means to be educated.

I should get paid MORE for babysitting your brats who think they are sooo precious and entitled, your brats who don't like to be corrected, your brats who don't like to be told no. Then I have to deal with self-indulgent narcissistic parents who seem to live in la-la-land. Do you even know what some of the teacher's salaries actually are? The adjustment for the pension is for the new hires so, thankfully, that doesn't pertain to me. I have my time in and I'm counting down until my retirement.

Scoots my boy, if teacher wages increase it's a result of value for value bargaining.(Look that up sometime scoots my boy.) If you have the credentials and want to work for minimum wage as a teacher go for it scoots my boy. Maybe others wanting to save on taxes will get the credentials and work for minimum wage as well scoots my boy. You may be on to something scoots my boy.

most teachers dictate, they have no idea how to teach and most don't care. college is a total rip off money wise, just look at moneyhurst (mercyhurst) you spend way less than 6 hours a day in class and have to use that professors book he wrote at the cost of 100.00 or more (ripoff)

some days you don't even have a class. your parents sent you to kindergarten, grade school and high school with a property tax. that's 12 or 13 years of school for what? maybe 30 to 35 thousand TOTAL

yet a year of college where you mostly teach yourself with maybe 5 classes a week cost 25 thousand or more a year

RIP OFF

OH, the erie county dem party is crooked as he ll its all about how much you donate to get what you want in return and if you happen to be a committee person, then its all about how much money you give to the party and how much work you do for the candidate

you are the financial backbone for the dems and they could care less how much you need to live on. its not about the people its all about what they can take from the working people and give away to the free loaders, just ask bill cole.

and if a candidate is running for judge you have to support the dem unless you are a lawyer then you can support all of them because they might rule against you in court if you don't, that was an actual statement at a committee meeting made by a lawyer who happened to be a committee person.

erie is definitely pay to play in the dem party
