I am signing up for my daughter who is a single mother with two beautiful boys. She is unemployed at this time and is trying to go back to school. She jumps from house to house and sometimes stays with me but it is difficult for me to take care of two families. I was wondering if she can receive any kind of assistants for her and her children for the Holidays. Thank you for considering this comment.

There are various programs offered in every county in Colorado...Shop-with-a-Cop, Helping Hearts & Hands, and certain foundations who do Christmas for the needy are resources that are available through the childs school...
Also, many Churches offer limited assistance during the Holidays...My son & I adopt a family from my moms church every year...We buy gifts for the kids, and usually throw in a grocery gift card and something for the parents...The church provides turkey dinner baskets, as there are no Food Banks where I live...

Remember, it's the "Season of Giving" and every little gift counts...What may be only a $5.00 toy to me has often turned into the best thing a child receives...I've been on both ends of this spectrum, and am thankful to this day to each and every person whose done for me and mine...Now that I'm in a better position financially, I make it a point to give back...Even if it is just a $5.00 toy...

Hi, I am in need of help with Christmas this year also. I am a single parent home at this time I have 3 children and 1 granchild at home. I live in Thornton CO, and my zip code is not on the Salvation Army location list. Would I also go to 2201 Stout st. After December 1st? My zip code is 80241.

You can sing up, get down there to collect your box of food. All you will find is OLD BEANS and out of date canned goods and some rice with bugs in it. Not worth the time or free publicity for this Org.

Apparently, it's quite challenging...
While there is an abundance of ignorance on this thread, I will still post the information I have because it's obviously not being provided to those in need...
If they can't manage to comprehend a simple sentence, it's on them...

That is what I was thinking...no wonder there is a need if you can not bloody well comprehend what you read or are merely too lazy too. Geesh...

Hoepfully people that really need help are getting it. The hardest part, I would think, is just to ask.

What's really sad is that those who know about certain resources won't tell anyone they're available...The year I hurt my back, I was off work from August - February and broke as hell...The Arvada PD handled my sons Christmas via "Shop with a Cop", and he was loaded up good...However, were it not for the Targeted Case manager at his school, I wouldn't have known about the program...Same thing with Helping Hearts & Hands, and they're not exclusive to holidays...Nobody at the county, 211, or any other place that is supposed to provide resources even brought up these programs...Only certain people know about them, and most aren't telling, which is what pisses me off...I only became privy to the Targeted Case Manager because I was friends with the Principal, so most parents aren't even aware of that option/service...And, both are a wonderful ladies...Single-moms themselves who went above and beyond for me and mine, and that simply does not occur very often...

I don't want people to be afraid to ask for help, especially when it comes to the kids...We are supposed to ask for help when needed, and we are supposed to provide help to others when they need it...

No kidding...But, if more of us who are willing to guide them step up, their fear will subside...

Right. I know what you are saying. I had a lady come into my agency for insurance once and she needed a final number for a charity pay.....it was some non-emergency help place. She could barely afford gas to get her son child to school....
After I knew about the program I offered it to people gallore. I do have to admit it is a hard subject to broach.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Cancer

Take it easy today, or the most insignificant things will get you down in no time. A difficult letter in the post, or a tricky conversation with a loved one, will sink your spirits down to your ankles. Ugh. Life is not as tough as it seems right now, so keep reminding yourself that we can choose to feel better. A bar of delicious chocolate, or a tasty savoury snack might help a little, too...
