Erick Mayor Arrested Picture and Story in Elk City Papers

Erick seems very capable of staying in the local news thereby enhancing its' reputation in the surrounding area! You just can't make this shit up. Nice mug shot, too.

Just shows that both the cops and the mayor in that town are corrupt.

Well according to odcr he has unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving without a license and obtaining cash or merchandise under false pretense or bogus check. He tried charging gas to Todd holland in the stolen car. He apparently was with teka holland.
This is the same guy that was police chief that refused a drug test and got fired then ran for mayor and the great citizens of Erick voted into office.

I bet anything that nobody will demand that he steps down as mayor.

is the name of the owner of the car a matter of the National Security Agency and must therefore be top secret and disclosed only on a need to know basis? Who owns the damn thing?

I honestly don't know. All I know is that the car belonged to a relative of Teka and they called it in stolen. That's why it's just unauthorized use and not grand theft auto. I honestly don't know which relative though.

Now why on earth would they do that? These good people elected him knowing he refused a drug test as a cop. I guess since it didn't matter he was doping, it shouldn't matter to them that he is a thief.

For what? Because what he didn't do was a crime? The guy hasn't been a cop but 6 months. They don't teach you every law in the book at CLEET. They just give you basic tools to get started and make sure you dont get killed. He should have looked into it more or at least called someone and asked what he should do but he didn't commit a crime. Besides was they even in his jurisdiction when they reported the crime? We know they was at some point because they was trying to charge gas to Todd holland at C&K but was that before or after the car was reported stolen? I think there is a lot of things that should be looked at here and if nothing else some changes made. Laramie doesn't have the experience to be chief yet, he should be under someone that has that experience to teach him what to do and not to do. I guarantee you Laramie is very embarrassed over this whole ordeal and next time he will do things different. This isn't just an Erick cop incident, it happens all over Oklahoma. These cops all get the same training but the difference is a good city and police department have a training program. The sheriff office don't just let their new officers take a car and go out and patrol, they have a training program. They have to ride with experienced officers for a certain amount of time before they can venture out on their own.

Their were two people involved, one lived in the county and the other the city so Laramie referred the matter to the Sheriff's office to avoid jurisdictional problems. He didn't hide or cover it up. Second the suspect was the Mayor, his boss! so to avoid the implication of favortism he referred it to the county. That's the same thing the Sheriff has to do when County Commissioners are suspects, he refers it to the osbi to avoid being accused of covering it up. It's called a conflict of interest people.

Well you got part of it right. I wasn't saying he did anything wrong, I was sticking up for him and no it's not a conflict of interest. TJ has no authority of over Laramie. Tj cannot fire anyone or hire anyone. In this town the mayor signs paper work and that's it. So there for no conflict of interest. I see no where in the state statute book that it says that it is a conflict of interest to arrest someone that has no authority over you. Look it up. Tj don't even have a say so In council meetings. I like Laramie and think he is going to be a damn good cop once he gets the experience. I have stuck up for Laramie in other posts to. So don't take what I'm saying wrong. Unlike some people on this forum I look into things before I open my mouth and that's no directed towards true either.

well they made it in the sayre paper to and they look bad ! but i guess thats what drugs do to u . them poor babies of hers have to live in a place with all that stuff around them hopeful god will be with the little kids. Will when he didnt take a drug test as a cop that shuold of told people then that he was on drugs. that poor drug dog coundnt hurt the drug user around town because he had one all the time tro keep up with. I hope and pray that they get a new mayor & i think the city should do drug testing more offten then they do.

The city is supposed to do random drug testing on all employees. That don't happen but they are supposed to. While is mayor they could drug test him but if he tests positive can they do anything since he is an elected official?
