I haven't heard anything bad about Gerald. My parents and grandparents live in Erath and they said that whenever someone from Erath dies, Gerald goes to the funeral home and pays his condolences...always, even if they are at an out of town funeral home....How can this guy be bad? Seems like a genuine guy to me. Steven, on the other hand, some people hate him....like, really, really hate him. Haven't heard that crime has gone up in Erath either, so..as far as my family is concerned....If it ain't broke...you know the rest......

I think half of these comments are Steven himself or his buddy Guy Nerren who both lost against Gerald.Oh well Gerald has my vote and those who don't like it oh well.In fact i know alot of the officer's in Erath and they all like Gerald.

He is the most qualified he is a certified police officer most people wanted him out because he knows the law and people can't handle the truth and want to heard what they want not what the law is.

Re-Elect Gerald for Chief. Like stated above, if it isn't broken why try to fix it. He definitely has my vote and my entire family.

If he did he would know that Steven received less than 200 votes in the last election. Not enough to run again in "my" opinion.

Remember one of Gerald’s biggest campaign promises last election was “If I am elected I will attend the police academy and become a certified Office” well here we are 4 years latter and not only has he not attended any schools, any time you are in need of any police services you are told by Chief Hebert “oh that’s a civil matter you will have to get an attorney and sue”. Even when it is a felony chase. It seems that he just does not want to deal with anything. Well I guess that’s what happens when you have a Police Chief who has no Law Enforcement training!!!
it was suggested to him to attend the academy his response was he doesnt need to thats why someone who has never been in law enforcement or know anything about the law should not be in office and its not that he doesnt want to deal with it its because he doesnt know what to do

Isn't it amazing how idiots come out at election time. Your posting about Steven all over topix, why not walk door to door with him through town instead of trying to stir the pot here?
people be kind, the old time politics are over, people are educated today and they can see the truth and they can see the dirty politics for what it is, trashing words around just doen't work, the people are tired of dirty politics. The ones who condon dirty politics are the idiots and must be uneducated to stoop to the levels of lies, this only proves that maybe someone is starting to get worried about the turn out. Let see how the words go "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me" that is because Steve is a most honorable person, educated and NOWS THE LAW. Is this not what the town of Erath would want, to protect and serve not destroy the people.

I agree with you 100% Steve does know the law, and he is fair and works with families in a professional manner, and with compasion.Steve, when he was chief, helped the children of our community, he did not trash them around or degrade them instead he tried giving them chances to make the right choices and not led a life of delinquency, he was compasionate with the parents and worked with them to help their child make the right choice. Steve might appear rough, but he is a fare and just man.

Well, first of all, Gerald can't make a law. he can only enforce them. Maybe what you are trying to say, is that he is selective when it comes to enforcing the laws.
And here we go again, We don't mind when they give us a second chance, but when we are the victim, we want the death penalty for those who offended us.
You gotta realize, its not that great of a job, being chief in a small town.

Steve... a good chief... good one.. for rita he disappeared when it got crazy, drove a bus around in the flood water and didnt take care of his officers that he posted around town for 12 hours and didnt even bring them water. Then complained that the fire dept was doing his job....lol, Ill keep Gerald in a heart beat.. In a time of a crisis a person's true colors shine through. For Ike, Gerald was there and very cooperative with everyone.
