What do you expect with a bunch of arrogant, immature, disrespectful brats who won't listen to anyone who has the experience to lead them in the right direction. Their Chief has served up the coolaid and they all took a drink and are too ignorant to realize they have totally trashed a once great department. Take away their little lights and sirens that they run everyone off the road with and they all will quit, maybe they'll all go apply with the police dept. so they can play with guns now!

The residents of Erath have nothing to worry about, LeBlanc and Delcambre can step in to help. Hope Chief Elvin can handle his Erath renegades before they ruin Abbeville too.

i hear the guys with years of experience are still there, so hopefully we will still have their help. Yes we need people to help the community when they need, glad they do what they do. Thanks Sparky but Erath has a dept only 6 quit out of alot more.

I hope the Mayor and Alderman stand firm to stop the foolishness that has taken place over the last year. The next thing they need to adress is the board members who allowed Dennis and his Daddy to backdoor and railroad the good and experienced out of the dept. to get exactly the outcome they wanted. Good luck and you can count on your back being covered anytime it's needed....good riddence to the rest.

Apparently I am not the only resident of Erath who is fed up with the trucks with the "big chief" stickers in the back glass, Christmas tree lights and weo weo sirens turning corners on two wheels with total disregard for the public.

Lady next door twisted an ankle and called an ambulance, 4 pickups and two cars come screeming up completely blocked the road so the ambulance couldn't get there and 3 are in the yard on cell phones telling all their buddies what's going on! what's the purpose? Isn't this against the law?

have a age limit if the young guys cant handle it have an older fireman show them how to pull up to a fire or better yet text them they might understand better.times might have changed but fires didnt teach the young how to respect.

I support the fire department they are volunteers which means they fight fires for free, they don't get paid so why should Dupuis have anything to do with picking a chief. I bet you would change your mind if you house was burning down and you would call 911 and they would inform you that Abbeville Fire Dept was responding because if all these guys don't volunteer thats what would happen, your house would definately burn to the ground before AFD could make it there. Dupuis has alot more to worry about than the fire dept., like the budget, the electrical dept, ect, plus they respond as first responders to wrecks and other disasters, which means if they were not there you would have to wait longer for help which means lives would be lost, its not politics its about saving lives. I am thankful for our Volunteers, GOD BLESS YALL and George Dupuis do your job and take care of something for the city.

I totaly support EVFD also, but this is not about fire proctection it's about an immature little boy stomping his feet because the city is tired of his foolish actions. A few of his cronies will follow him out of the door and those professionals who are there for the right reasons will carry on just fine without them.

I have done volunteer public service Law and Fire for over 20 yr, i know what its like jumping up in the middle of the night even in snow for free but by now i kno the difference betwee the right stuff and the right reason and a wannabee on a power trip. May God keep all of you safe and know you all stay in my prayers for what you do every day

I am glad to see that Dennis Jr. got out. He was reckless with his driving and was not mature or knowledgeable for that position. I wonder who will take his place, or who is running. I thought a person has to have certain qualifications to be a fire chief...so why is it Kerry said on t.v that the mayor can pick anyone off the street? I myself wish the previous chief would come back. Dennis wanted his spot and pushed him out. But now that the town sees what type of person he was and how good they had it before Dennis became chief, maybe he would come back. Just hope they get rid of the explores and all kids....should have age limits now. You have to have an age limit to be anything else like mayor, council member, president...why not firefighter.

Who is this lil boy you are talking about? Does that really matter all that should matter is when you need help they are there for you and they don't get paid for it.

Dupuis is on a power trip once again, him and his son have a issue with power trips and staying faithful to there wives, Kerry is a good man, I have known both of them my whole life, Kerry unlike Dupuis does his job for free, can Dupuis say the same? Hell no he can't there are other things Dupuis could be spending his time on.

Wonder, evidently you don't too much about the previous chief to Dennis Jr. and by the way, he lives outside of the district and is not eligible to be a Board member, or Officer of that Department

Why would you want to get rid of the Explorers? A program that introduces young men and women to fire fighting. You may have your feelings about the fire department, but the Explorers? Why would you want to bring kids in this? These kids are not fighting fires. You are wrong and need to apologize to the Explorers.

wow, I agree with you Carroll, the explorers program is a good thing. It was started years ago and has done a lot of good and kept kids in a good positive environment while teaching them about firefighting career.

Since you seem to be so knowledgable on the subject why don't you explain when and how that rule came about.
