Zirable, my husband, told me to turn my head when one of those people come around. I turn my head and what do I see, some more of those underdrawers. Me, I don't go to Walmark any more because of all that. They sure got a lot of that there. You think Walmart can hire Zirable to give those tickets?

Francis J. Plaisance, Councilman at Large for the City of Abbeville introduced the rule, ask for a vote and got this law passed at the council meeting of 04 September 2007. As of the next day, the people breaking this law can be fined and place in jail. Now we see the steps of the Supreme Court in our dreams and wonder if big brother will strike again in Cajun land.

On the sagging pants issue: I find it appalling
when a city council has to step in and correct
something that parents should be doing!!!!!

i think the saggy pants law is a joke. Delcambre passed it and the two cops have yet to arrest anyone. Why? Because they don't have time to look for things like that. I bet months will go by before Abbeville arrests someone for saggy pants. The whole thing is political people. It makes the council look good, while giving the police another stupid law to enforce!
I am going drink a bud!

if a citizen reports someone for wearing sagging pants, when they go to court the citizen has to go as well, to testify againt that person. Hello people! who in their right mind is going to report anyone in any town with a stupid rule like that? That's only asking for more trouble. I won't be reporting anyone for wearing their pants below their butt...nope, not so I can go to court and then they can come find me and burn my house down or something of that nature, once they get out of jail or pay their fine. Thanks, but no thanks! I'd rather see your under garments than put my family at some sort of risk.

this law is STUPID!! everyone in the 70's with bell bottoms should've been arrested, every boy in the 80's with long hair should've been hanged, every guy with an earing in the 90's should have been caned, and now, everyone with baggy pants should be jailed??!! Find a real cause to follow you stupid MFers, they aren't hurting you!!!

The law is better than nothing. In a northen town it was okay for people to walk around without clothes. Freedom of expression and all that. Finally some man 60 plus walked around town. Guess what the law changed. Maybe mature people above their 70's should walk around with saggy pants, their throngs showing and their navals showing. I think manybe some would get the message. It is disgusting!!

when you have a 3 year old asking, mom i thought you said your private parts should be covered up and you say well baby they don't have the money for a belt and your child says no they have a belt on momma!!! when you are dumb founded and can not find they words to explain then it is effecting me and my child. bell bottoms, ear rings and long hair is not exposing your @ss, jail is not the place for them b/c our good tax money would be keeping them warm dry and a stomach full of food and not to mention the time on there hand to work out!!! so get real, get real!!!!! they should be issued a ticket by the police officer just like a speeding ticket. What the hell is wrong with the people in this town, that is what happens when uneducated people try to take over!!!!!

Mrs. Truth, I'm not disagreeing that they should not be ticketed by the law...what I'm saying is that the way the law works is pathetic. Jail is not the place for these people...our jails should be used for people who actually commit REAL crimes! Seriously, would they let drug users go so they can house petty pants droppers?

There should be some sort of action taken, but at the same time, don't make the innocent citizen of the parish go to court and put their own lives in jeopardy! That's all I'm saying. Punish the guilty not the meek.

Public indecent exposure is already illegal, saggy pants does expose anything, if you show your privates, you're INDECENT and that's ALREADY ILLEGAL, dumbass, just enforce the current laws you fascists!!

I think "Get Real" meant to say: "saggy pants "doesn't" expose anything", and I agree, your laws end where mine begin, if you're not hurting me, mind your own business, style is SUBJECTIVE

I'm sorry, "GET REAL", are you calling me a dumb @ss for voicing my opinion?
this really has nothing to do with indecent exposure. When I commented, way the other day, my whole point was the way the situation as a whole is handled. If the cops give a citation, fine...good for them. If someone reports someone else for slabbing, I don't see the point in making that person go to court with the accused, if that person is indeed guilty...and if they are the cops will see for themselves. All I'm saying is that wear what you please...I for one don't care to see anyone's behind on the streets...however, I'm not a nark...I won't be the one reporting some guy or girl for showing the wasteband of their underwear. Whatever!
And I'm sorry if I offended anyone...I wasn't directing my thoughts to anyone in particular...just airing my own opinion on the subject.
And also to Mrs. Truth...I agree 100% and understand where you are coming from when you talk about your kid...I myself have a 7 year old...and I thank God he has enough common sense to keep his pants where they belong.

for real, get real, and what he said, I have seen plenty of saggy pants that show ass (the skin), now if those people had any respect they would pick up there damn pants, but of course they don't have any respect for themselves let alone anyone else. I think the chief should gather all the aux. officers for the cattle fest. and instruction them to write as many saggy pants tickets as they can. What a great way for the town make some money!!!! as for get real calling people dumb ass well lets see proof read a little before you post something, ohh wait i am sorry proof reading requires some form of education, showing half of your ass does not fall within the meaning of indecent exposure law, It goes by the way the law is worded, and again knowing that requires some kind of education!!!!! So before you start bouncing them gums again get a law dictionary and make sure it is the most current one that is being used!!!!!
