Was up a our cabin last weekend and went to Ingles and later Food Lion. Never saw so many fat -- I means mobidly obese -- individuals in my life. Why are people in Fannin County so darn fat? Must be the obesity capital of America.

Totally agree with you buddy. As you drive by Mickey d's & waffle house you see them licking their lips waddling inside. They are busy gossiping about people from Atlanta and Florida that have cabins here.

Haha wishful thinking buddy. Next 20 years the Florida people & Atlanta people will own 80 percent of fannin county. Unless you got the money to buy up the property nothing you can do but talk about these people. Keep talking. And they will keep buying.

By the way did I mention I am a recovered Floridian. The people coming here from Florida now are the same ones who ruined it causing me to leave years ago. they are now looking to move to the next victim. All they do is bitch about the way things and people are. Then when they get the changes they wanted they bitch about that too and move on to a new location. Damned Yankees, GO HOME!!!!!

This is not a problem just in Blue Ridge. If you read the paper it is a national problem. Let's face it we do not work outside with hand tools anymore we use power tools riding lawn mowers, our parents used push mowers. We drive our cars down the road to pick up the mail. Our kids complain its to far to walk to school I really had to walk 2 miles to school each way in the snow and rain I grew up in Michigan . We had one car and my dad used that to drive to work The bus would not pick you up unless you lived more than 2 miles from school, so we walked 4 miles a day. We ran and played at recess our kids no longer have recess. Mom threw you out the door to play no video games....I guess what I am saying is we ALL have a problem and if we do not do something our kids will not have to worry about social security they will die an early age because of weight related problems. I see fat people in every state, heck I see a chubby person when I look in the mirror (lol)

Not ALL have a problem. Some of us exercise and eat a healthy diet . No doubt American has a problem but some of us do something about it even if it's a lot of work. We all can make changes Iif we try. There really is no excuse for most to be over weight. Simple things as drinking water instead of soda & walking 30 minutes a day. Excuses are always going to be there. It is a choice for most people.

Mary, you are so right the problem is we have become a lazy society and say" I will do that tomorrow" then it is to late. It is someone else's fault not mine "its fast food", its" I do not have time" etc. When you are sitting in the doctors office and going to the pharmacy to wait on blood pressure pills you seem to find time for that, we are responsible for our own lives and not McDonalds' the soft drink company etc.

I know why I am fat -- weigh around 385 (male, 27 year old, 5 foot 9 inches tall)-- it's because I enjoy eating. I eat while watching television, while on the computer, and sometimes while sitting on the toloit. When I sit down for a meal, I want to feel some pain when I get up from the table. You eat your celery, I'll eat my country fried steak with lots of gravy and biscuits.

Why not attack the problem and not the messenger? I bet you weigh 300 plus yourself and ride one of those carts in Ingles.

Try the Village's buffet, Fat Jack. It will feel you up without empting your wallet.
