Dogs and snake bites

My dog was bitten in the face, twice, by a poison snake. I don't know what kind of snake it was but his face is so swollen till his eyes are just slits. I have given him allergey meds and antibiotics.
I can't take him to the vet. I don't have $2000.00. He is a boxer and he is 11yrs old. Does anyone have any info? Am I doing the right thing. He is eating and drinking, he is alert and goes out by himself, If I would let him. Other than his swollen, blood dripping face he appears to be fine. He was bitten yesterday. If he were going to die wouldn't he already?
Please, any info would help ease my mind.
