Sounds to me like someone picked the wrong time of night to ride on the wrong type of road. But then again, when you hear it was 20 year old girl, you KNOW your first thought is along the lines of "was she texting?". Tell me it's not true. I wonder how this one will turn out.

Where's my girl....I NEED TO KNOW!!!!

Knowing the area that the accident occured, I know that the roads are NOT safe to bike on at that time of night. People do it all the time because of the rural community.

You're both WRONG! The road is more than safe enough for bicyclists IF car and truck drivers obeyed the speed limits, stayed off their phones and were attentive to their surroundings and others on the roadways. Fortunately, if the Jeep driver was texting or on the phone when she collided with the cyclist, the police department handling this investigation will never figure it out.

And when I wrote "Fortunately", I meant fortunately for the Jeep driver...Not for those of us who regularly bike in this area. I called the police more than one time about cars blowing through four way stops in that area in the early morning. Nothing was done. If you're gonna bike or drive anything smaller than a 3/4 ton pickup, you absolutely must drive in a defensive state of mind. Last year, in this same area, some punk kids intentionally struck a bicyclist with a car door as they drove by him. I think a neighboring police department figured it out and arrests were made. Otherwise, I don't think anything was going to happen with that one.
