It's opening week for a new act in U.S.-Cuba relations: A Spanish-language version of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is beginning a three-day run at the University of Alabama, starring professional actors from Havana.

After 50 years of Communism in Cuba..I think the cuban people deserve this kind of opportunities..to get out and see FREEDOM..right on Freedom Soil. I hope they will never returned to Cuba. Obama efforts to have a friendship with the Castro's radical goverment is obvious.

I agree with your comment up to certain point ,because I believe that the more new ideas that Cubans get exposed to,the better it'll be for them to open their eyes and see what reality is and not just what Castro system has forced them to learn since childhood,but I also believe it must be a two way 'street'. Castro must also allow CubanAmericans singers and actors etc,like Willie Chirino,Gloria Estefan etc who are Cubans as well as Americans to visit the country where they were born and to sing to their people! Willie Chirino,even offered, a few weeks ago, to Raul to sing in Cuba for free and that he will even was willing for any other expenses,to sing to the Cuban people for free!Raul didn't even answered his request!I believe that Chirino, as a Cuban and as an American deserves the right to sing in Cuba. What do you think 'George'? What are Raul afraid of - free debate of ideas!!!!!!!!!!Right 'George'!

I agree! We in the U.S. must take care that even those ideas which we oppose must be free to be uttered. Even those which sound more like macho chest beating and moronic. Cuba has many bright and well educated citizens but the state supresses any free expression unless it is within the bounds of revolutionary government rhetoric. Raul is afraid of open, free debate!!!!!!!

Hi my comment was about the article. And the cultural interchange between Cuba and USA. Today I think is OK. Why not? Cubans need to see Democracy at work.
