As a lifelong resident (60+ years),I now understand why leaves grew on just one side of trees, grass would not grow in yards, etc. If DuPont was aware ...how can our government (governor) defend or justify this behavior.Aside from the obvious health issues, the residents are hard-working,blue-collar people with families that have worked their entire lives to pay for a very modest home/property and are told that their property sits on a toxic ' landfill.....it's worthless !!!

I aree with you 100% DuPont was aware of what they were doing by dumping toxic waste. I have never seen so many cases of cancer in one area. I live right outside of Spelter and my dad told me when he was a child which was many years ago that stuff would glow do you remember this? My father passed away 2 years ago this past Sept.he had a rare form of colon cancer. He and siblings would play in that stuff as a child. He grew up in the Spelter, Meadowbrook and Lamberts Run area. I think all but , one of his siblings died from cancer.

I was raised on Lamberts Run and Meadowbrook. My Grandfather worked and retired from that plant. He died of colon cancer. I had a cousin that was raised on Lamberts Run and went to Zeising School with me. She died in her early thirties of brain cancer. I recall my Father saying that when he was a child you could not raise horses in Spelter. Most would die before they were yearlings or were stillborn. I now live in Marietta Ohio and am seeing first hand again what Dupont does do the enviroment. C8 is our problem.

This sounds like my family. My sister died when she was 33 from a brain cancer. She went to Zeising School. The only thing that doesnt match up is my father didnt work at the plant he worked for the VA hosptial, but he died from colon cancer.

I worked at the plant in 1974 and 1975. Thank God I enlisted in the Air Force and left the plant. I have many medical conditions and some of them very rare. I can still remember the horrible conditions and illness while working. Is anyone helping the people that worked there and have horrible side effects from the chemicals?

Now that the WV Supreme Court of Appeals is out for the summer break, does anyone have any ideas on when the court will rule on the appeal of the spelter dupoint case?

Anybody willing to bet that in 10-20 yrs., there will be a housing development on that property?
