I used to live in Fairmont and come back to visit about once a year and was wondering if the waterpark that was suppose to open this summer is done yet?

Are you kidding? They're too busy finding ways to finish the "road to nowhere", fill the empty multi million dollar parking garage that's used for flea= and farmer's markets, and raise our water rates for the fourth time in as many months. Why on earth would they want to work on trying to complete anything that would actually generate revenue?

Indoor waterpark?!?!

HAHAHAHAHA

"The Music Man" is supposed to be a comedy about gullible locals. It's not supposed to be an instruction manual.

The proposed location is a reclaimed EPA superfund site. Mmmmmm - grow some tomatoes on it! Can't you taste the mercury and heavy metals? Why not build a park where children will play? Madness!

The good old boy network is attempting to get gambling legalized in some form or fashion preferably on the river - a 'family waterpark' is the perfect Trojan Horse to get a beach head established literally and figuratively. The only slides they are really concerned about are the ones depositing money into slot machine coffers.

I'm sure this is something else Alan Mollahan has a hand in. Does everyone realize how much he has hurt Fairmont with some of his antics?

wasn't sure how to bring up a new subject but a certain someone goes to court this week and our fingers are crossed for justice/ what good is probation if someone can still drink and drive do drugs and harrass people constantly? I for one get tired of these wealthy people bragging about paying their fines and just walking away!!!!!I do have faith in our prosecuting attorney so hoping for a good outcome!!!!

If this so called water park was being built in
Morgantown , We would be using it this summer. Take a good look at Fairmont , there is nothing,it
is a deadbeat town with crooked politicians, bad
cops , all the run down properties that are left
abandoned over by the college. All they are worrying about is getting the gateway connector to nowhere completed so it will be quicker for
people to get out to go to Morgantown to due stuff
with there families.

Just revisiting this thread in light of newspaper stories in which county commissioners admitted that the waterpark was a boondoggle. They claim to be 'embarrassed' by all the ground-breaking and ribbon-cutting ceremonies but they weren't embarrassed at the time.

Now they want to remake the Palatine riverfront, claiming it's a 'manageable' project. But why was the waterpark ever even considered if it was unmanageable?

I think after constructing an unwanted parking garage, the City figured out the fallacy behind the movie phrase "Build it and they will come."

Maybe someone should contact the U.S. Attorney Bill Ihlenfeld said “One of the most important things I can do as a United States Attorney is make sure we keep our public officials honest." Ihlenfeld said all public officials must follow the law and he created a Confidential Public Tip Hot Line stating: The public is urged to report tips to the Public Corruption Hotline at 1-855-WVA-FEDS (1-855-982-3337) or e-mail wvafeds@usdoj.gov.
