Destroyed by roads and commerce? huh?

If Burton St homes are taken for I-26, they will be paid fair market value to move somewhere NICER!!!

Yes, when I was growing up West Asheville was referred to as "Worstville". Joe Joyner enjoys fighting against any development or improvements.

Improvements are a necessary part of life. Now, the poor are always the ones to lose. Can you imagine I 26 going thru a development such as (Enka Lake) Biltmore lake or Biltmore Forest.

That is why the north end of our county has the Quarry, the Landfill and all the Bike roads..

Just a fact of life

I'm sorry to say that the thinking of mr Joyner is that of many in west asheville. The interstate highway has run through that area since it's construction some thirty years ago, I'm not sure of the date. To use another route would be the most unwise choice the highway dept could make. To widen the highway, using the current route it takes, would disrupt the least amount of homes and property. Most of the homes are sitting right on the highway right of way now. His argument is not valid in any way. No one is picking on west asheville, they are just using the area that makes the most sense. Maybe this is why so many are against it, it makes sense and they hate something that makes sense.

West Asheville will improve when the good people of West Asheville band together and make the improvements that are necessary.
Sitting on haunches, whining and with a hand out for a government assistance and tolerating things as they are will not get the job done.

"West Asheville will improve when the good people of West Asheville band together and make the improvements that are necessary."

Which is exactly what we are doing by opposing the I 26 connector.

How is that going to improve west asheville? West asheville takes in a lot more than just the interstate highway. Why not focus on the other area's, where you can make a difference.Fighting the widening of the interstate is not doing anyone any good. The highway is going to go right where they have already said it will. Why not clean up and improve the other 98 percent of west asheville? What a waste of time and tax payer money.
