Has anyone heard about the explosion at Millponds Condo off Texas Road that happened yesterday? My husband said Texas Rd was detoured last night at 7pm, and today on his way to work he said he had to pull over to the side of Texas Rd, because he couldn't believe what he was seeing. An entire complex he said looked like it was hit by a bomb. I can't find anything about this on the new or on channel 12 news. If anyone has heard about this please let me know because we live 1 minute away from where this happened.

Please, someone answer me. I am new here, and would really like some input to what you all may think could have happened.

I have the police scanner on right now, hoping to hear of any tidbit on the explosion that happened last night.

Here is the link to the live police scanner if anyone is interested.

there was a fire there yesterday!! It started around 430 pm and they were still working on it around 10:30 pm. I didn't hear any details but there was rumors going around like there were kids playing with matches but I don't know if it was the truth.

Oh my Gosh! I live around the corner and have witnessed kids in my development playing with firecrackers and throwing them in the street in front of our home, and then they run. They have been doing this for quite sometime and now I am wondering if it's the same kids who have been doing this.

I am sure in due time we will hear what happened. I am just surprised that there is no news coverage about it right now.

Thank you for writing back, it is much appreciated.

They are still investigating, a true there are no news anywhere on the web, TV or news papers, which, to say the least is weird....

Yes it is strange that they have no coverage on this, that is why I think there could possibly be more then some kids playing with matches. I think Tim heard a rumor, and we have no idea if there is any truth to it. If I hear something more I will post something on here.
Thank you for responding Tim and Ava

I live in Millponds (across the highway from the fire), and drove by last night around 6pm.
I saw an entire house collapse. It is really odd, I agree about no news coverage. I searched all newspapers.
I also called the Condo office offering assistance to those who might have lost everything. I have not heard from them as of now. Please keep me posted if you hear what happened.
Thanks.

I lived at Millponds not far from where the explosion happened. We now live in Bellemont, around the corner. I will keep you posted and you do the same. I want to help the people that just lost everything. I am praying no lives were lost being it happened during the work day hours. I would be surprised if you hear back from the association, because on a good day, they avoided us when we used to have to deal with them.
I'll be back in about 1 hour to check this forum out to see if anyone knows what happened.

Thanks Rosemary for your post.

We went there last night, and spoke to people that live in on the same street where this happened. They said that 2 homes collapsed, the 3rd is a shell all burnt, and the other 2 homes that did not sustain damage are not allowed back because it could be unstable. A cat died in the fire, but like Sharon said no lives were lost. I think a group of us should get together and donate money to these people. I heard they had no insurance :( Sharon, and Rosemary, I would be willing to give you my phone number via my personal email account, through a yahoo name I could create (Don't want to give out my real yahoo name or AOL name via here. All I can say after coming back from the devested area from what I saw, I still couldn't say what happened. It looked like a bomb hit there. The 2 homes are completely gone. While we were there the Gas company was in the development, we also heard that the gas company couldn't find the main gas line, it took them 1/2 hr to find it, these people we spoke to seem to think because of that, the fire got out of control..if they were able to find the shut off valve in the grid sooner, it may not have gotten this bad. So that's what I know as of right now. I will be out running to Drs appointments today, but will check back later. Sharon and Rosemary, please get back to me.

Thanks,
Lisa

I was at CVS when the fire just started, a huge black cloud was visible from RT 9. My worker and I immediatly drove to the scene, when we got there the entire back of the first house was in flames, prodominantly the back deck. There were two men (a man and his son) who were coming out of the side of the house as we ran up to see if anyone got injured, they were calling for the cat and were visibly confused and in shock. Apparantly they were family of the home owners who were taking a break in between viewings at a wake or funeral. It took the fire trucks a good 10-15 minutes to get there. By the time the trucks had gotten their hoses spraying water, the house was an inferno. Withing 1/2 Hour the second house went up, I witnessed it's collapse as it tore off the third house. I've got alot of it on video on my phone. It was a very sad and disturbing experience, I pray that the family recovers and can rebound from this. I did hear chatter about an Asian boy who was seen by the back of the house soon before or after the fire was started.

as far as the no insurance goes, the exterior of the home is covered through the homeowner's association. It would be a shame if they had no insurance for the interior. But living in a situation where you are connected to other people, I would be sure to have it. I am curious as to the cause of it myself, and why it burned so fast.

It is really sad when anything like this happens. If anybody has information on how we can help the family, pl post that here so it could be circulated around. Also, I am really surprised at an absolute silence about this in any form of media. Nothing on the web either. An article about what happened, why it happened and how people can help effected families would help the cause and may help settle the anxiety as well.

Thank you all for responding and also to Scott, people like you are heroes. You did everything right and more so. If I had seen I would have been there also trying to help. To Sara, since you know these people, you would be the one who would know where we can donate clothing etc. I was planning on going to the Englishtown Flea Market next month for our yearly garage sale, instead of doing that I want to donate things to this family who lost everything. I have all kinds of appliances, lamps, etc., for them, so please find out where I can donate these items....it would be greatly appreciated. My husband I could not believe the utter devastation that took place there, it was as if our eyes were playing tricks on us last night....imagine, 2 I believe we were told are completely gone....I also heard that the fire dept. was late getting there....omg Millponds is only less then 5 minutes from Robertsville Fire Dept!!!!!! This is a wake up call to those who live at Millponds and Bellemont as I do, and I am not happy at all with this situation.

My heart is aching for these families, and I want to help in any way shape or form. Keep us posted Sara, and I am so terribly sorry for your best friends.

I also find it strange that there is not one single article or news coverage about this!!!

Will check back later.
