My family and I are considering moving to the Englewood area for a job offer. The problem is, we live in West TN and do not know anyone in that area who can put us in the direction of anyone having a rental property open. It could be either in Athens, Madisonville or Englewood. We don't mind Englewood as long as it's in the country.(which is preferable in any case) I thought perhaps someone out there on this forum could help us out with who we could contact. We would eventually buy or build; but in the meantime, being new to the area, we'd need to rent as we still own a house here in west TN. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciate. Thanks!

Thank you for the suggestion. I just tried their website but it appears they don't have rentals. We will eventually buy or build but until we are in the area long enough to know where we want to live (Athens, Madisonville, Etowah, etc.) we don't want to buy and then wish we lived in some other area. So we will rent in the meantime. Any suggestions on the best area to live there? We drove around Englewood but it seemed Athens and Madisonville was nicer; we haven't been to Etowah so don't know anything about what it looks like. It's hard to relocate when you don't know anything about the area. Any help with info on the area, rental properties available, etc. would be so very appreciated!!

What in the world kind of job did you find in Englewood?
That place has been dried up for decades.

Many of the local Realtors, including Garren, manage rental properties. Just give them a call.
We live near Etowah (east of town) great place if you like the country.

Not me, my husband. And there is a job there; it's a professional job that requires certain licenses to do. I just know how gossipy topix is and don't wish to put on here what he will be doing as everyone will know who the new people are before we even GET there, lol. No offense but we just choose to stay a bit more private than to tell that info before he even starts the job in July.

Thanks so much for that. We've also been looking at online newspapers from Athens and Madisonville at rentals listed. And, no offense to anyone at all who lives in Englewood, but we decided living there isn't for us even though he'll be working there. So we are concentrating on either Etowah, Madisonville or Athens, depending on where we find a clean place to rent. We'll eventually buy a home, or build one, but until we're there awhile and know where we want to live exactly once we have a feel for the area, we'll rent. Plus, our house still has to sell here, too. We haven't been to Etowah but we've heard good things about it. We've seen pictures online and it looks like a place we'd enjoy living. The town we live in here is 10 miles from the nearest Walmart OR grocery store.....ugh. At least in Etowah there's a Piggly Wiggly even if there's no Walmart, lol. Athens and Madisonville looked nice, too - but we kind of like smaller town living and actually hope we can find a rental in the country, if possible. I'm looking forward to living in that area; so much to do as we are outdoor enthusiasts and love the mountains. My daughter will be a senior in high school this year; I'm fortunate in that she's not throwing a fit because she has to change schools - she's really resilient and likes meeting new people. She's also in the band so I'm going to have to make sure I get her in band camp but that shouldn't be a problem as McMinn Central's isn't until mid-July. Is that a good school system if we in fact end up around Etowah?? I know Athens is McMinn County and M'ville is Sequoyah, right??
