I agree this lady should be locked up. I don't understand how anyone can steal off of a loved ones grave. I live in East Tennessee my dad was a constable. When he died we put a saddle on his grave till the marker could be put down. It didn't last there 3 days. I put an article in the newspaper and finally they have quit stealing. People don't have respect for anyone to steal from graves.

It sure is sad to think someone would steal from the dead.

How can someone be so disrespectful! The thought of her taking something from my loved one that is buried there makes me sick to my stomach! I truly hope that she gets many years to think about what it does to the families of those that were laid to rest there... for we are the ones that go to remember our loved ones that we no longer have with us. That is all we have! We bring things for holidays, birthdays, many different occasions for the family, NOT for someone to take like that. What is this world coming to?!

I'll bet she's the kind of woman who'd steal the nickels off her dead grandmother's eyes. For shame.

The worst time is around Memorial Day. Go to the flea markets just before and see all the meth-heads selling wreaths, etc. I never put a new decoration on before a big holiday.

Sadly this is a problem at many cemeteries. I put flowers out at Sherwood Memorial Gardens on Alcoa Highway at my parents' graves and they disappear quickly. I've complained to Sherwood but they say there is nothing they can do.

Seriously, I try no to be petty, but WBIR could you hit the spell check icon at the top of your screen before you submit these articles on your website. You are insulting our intelligence and it is beyond ridiculous now. We,some,of us are educated, aight?

It seems nothing is sacred anymore. Thieves are the dregs of society.

Perhaps you should use your spell check as well?
Friend, you are not trying hard enough "no" to be petty.

To steal from the dead is about as low as one can get. This woman needs to be locked up for awhile, then given community service working (guess where?) in cemeteries. Maybe this would make an impression on her.

To In Awe:

1) Your comment about the spell check at WBIR has NOTHING to do with the subject.

2) Did you proof your comments before you hit send? I don't think you did.

On to the subject: I think it's pretty obvious the lady who stole the cemetery decorations has some serious issues. No one in their right mind would do something like that repeatedly and put the items in her front yard!

This is what will happen to that woman: she'll get a court-appointed attorney (which we'll pay for) and he'll go to court saying she's got emotional problems and that "she's suffered enough" and then the court will order community service (do you really want someone who steals from the dead "working" in your community?) and put her on probation and she'll be back doing what she does best within a year. There are some people who are so bereft of human emotion and compassion that nothing, absolutely nothing, will change them. They're borderline personalities and, short of putting them in a mental institution (which will NEVER happen) there's nothing we can do. Absolutely disgusting, isn't it?

I took home a headstone basket with flowers in it to my mom for mothers day. I tried to tell her it was a basket that hangs over a chair. She didn't buy into that and I got beat and return it to the dumpster where I found it :)
