Wondering why the Athens Police runs a scrambled radio channel. Is it to protect Zigler from the screw ups of his Officers? Is it to hide the location of the radar traps? Is it to keep there (City Police) lack of crime busting hidden from the citizens?

I have been pulled over with the seat-belt excuse, had my Wife with me to be a witness so the officer backed down and then admitted that our car resembled one they were looking for. He then apologized and left.

BTW, stats show that Athens City PD have stopped 56% more motorists in 2012 than they did in 2011, so look out for em.

They stopped my brother with the seat belt deal ,said she couldn't tell if he had it on. She stopped a friend of mine because he had a air freshner on the rear view mirror said people use the to cover the smell of pot. They most be lookin for something to do. Most people in that line of work got picked on as kids so now its a power trip to help their ego. Sorry to all the law abiding people that a screw by the law!

I have heard everyone of these excuses and more...the best was when they claimed we didn't use a turn signal...we made them replay the tape and you can see the turn signal plain as day....not to be outdone, one stopped us to tell us our tags ran out at the end of the month....when they stop you and tell you you have a light out, walk around the car and check....had that one pulled on me 3 times....I had no lights out any time....I tell my kids to avoid the city limits and only drive in the county....you don't have to be doing something wrong....they stop you and hope they can find something to justify it..they stopped my husband for driving on a suspended...no other reason....his license isn't suspended....they had suspended it in error when his son with the same name missed court on a ticket....we proved it was his son and everybody agreed they had wrote down the wrong ticket number...we still had to pay a $65 reinstatement fee to the state....I bet it broke Hennessee's heart to not be able to arrest my husband for a ticket he had paid....he must have just been hoping we were still refusing to pay the reinstatement fee that we argued the city should've had to pay....and no, we don't drink, do drugs, drive erratically, or anything else...we have no criminal record...we just have the misfortune of needing to drive through the city

Jackie Holmes is top of the list. That dyke's day is coming . What's sad is at the local apartment complexes the city cops make the managers go in first on the calls . The chicken shit carrying the gun is going in with a billet proof vest on right behind those poor women.

Me again, recently got pulled over for having a loud exhaust. Stock exhaust system in perfect repair.
Had my Wife with me again. Dumbass cop backed down and issued a warning.
If I keep driving in Athens I am going to have to get rid of my old Honda. Car is 20 years old with high miles, runs and drives perfectly with very little maintenance but apparently too many degenerates drive the same type of cars.

The Athens Police are harassing innocent civilians.
That is NOT acceptable no matter how you try to sugar coat it.
Anybody who accepts harassment by police do not deserve to live in America and need to go move to Iran or China.

Also, if you knew the technology you would know that a person Internet Service Provider randomly assigns IP addresses, Topix geo-IP database is sometimes out of date or erroneous and shows people in random places.

In 6 years of using Topix I have been shown from Madison Wisconsin, Rome Georgia and several places around TN. I have always posted from Athens TN. I have seen locations changed in older posts from what they used to be when Topix changes their geolocation to IP database.

You apparently also do not seem to be privy to the fact that the Athens City police have had multiple occasions of officers stealing drugs from evidence. They have also had lawsuits against them. Good department? Yeah right.

Whoa! You assume I am suggesting the APD is 'bad'? Where did that come from? I was speaking of our rust bucket and not getting stopped. No hidden agendas, ok?

FYI, There are many Mr Magoo's here. I rarely post. I am not all over here posting on this lovely forum. Ever hear of the phrase,'When you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME?'

There are bad eggs in all depts. People here have the right to express their frustration with some cop pulling them over for a bogus seat belt check....regardless how good the overall APD might be. The real problem is most cops don't even realize they are working for a Corporation, and not a local government. And that corporation is, of course, in the business of making money.
