I will say it again, egress windows have a fundamental flaw, put the single hung opposite way. How hard is that???

mexicans can only watch so many of their children at a time. between counting their wic checks and their spawn, it is just a good day if they get them all back asking who their daddy is.

The story says that she put that toddler in a play pin, how tall was this 2 year old? I mean if she could get out of her play pin (probably not for the first time she got out) then better percautions should have been taken. Accidents do happen but when it comes to your kids you have to watch them around windows. There needs to be a law that people who live in apartments and have toddlers (1-3) you have to live on the bottom floor. I hope this little girl is ok, hard lesson learned from experience and that is a tuff bit to chew.

What is faster than a speeding bullet? A two year old kid! One of the biggest problems out there is parents are improperly setting up the Play Pen they alway put the open side up! the open side should be on the floor!

It is tragic that these things happen. A friend of mine had her son fall from a window two stories up. The boy died. The window had a screen but that didn't hold the child. The owners were sued because the windows went all the way to the floor.
And your fried did not noticed that when they moved in? Or was it the owners came in the middle of the night and put the windows in!

Screens are to keep insects out, not keep children in. It doesn't matter if the window had a screen or not. It should have had a safety latch that prevented it from being opened more than 4 inches by the child.

Yes, children are quick and all parents have made mistakes. But this was entirely preventable.

Those of you not wanting to place most of the responsibility on the parent are inviting her to continue endangering her child. It was a tragic accident, the next one could be worse. At least encourage her to get help in making the apartment a safer place to raise a child.

Why no arrest in this case? I would think if a mother has a 2 year old, she would be required to have at least a screen on the window. Poor little thing falls out the window due to the mom not being smart enough to protect her. A 2 year old needs to be watched by a responsible person.
Boy oh boy, it isn't enough there was a tremendous and terrible loss - someone has to go to jail too. You've got to be posting from the states, where the vindictive spirit of the times reigns.

So, you hate her because she is a beaner, but you feel bad about the kid. But he's a beaner too, dear - don't you think there's something wrong with him too? And what about all the white people that lose their children in this manner? Do you have some kind of special racial epithet for them too?

Sorry, but "screens" are NOT designed to hold anything...Their SOLE PURPOSE is to keep insects out...
However, watching the child IS the PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY...
So, while your sister recovers, you might want to educate your obviously irresponsible parents on child safety...

I mean accidents happen. I mean all the precautions in the world can't prevent every little misfortune instore for a child, or person in general. The parents could have watched her more closely, but what's happened has happened, instead of bashing the parents, why not pray for the family as a whole.
