I was stopped on Sylvan Ave. for speeding after midnight on Saturday/early morning Sunday. There's quite a long part of the road in Englewood Cliffs that is hilly, i.e. downward, and it's really hard to maintain speed limit of 35m/h.
What followed bewildered me. I haven't had much experience dealing with police, but these two framed me for all kinds of stuff, including assaulting police officer by knocking him down.. That NEVER happened. How unjust is that? Why the subjective motive to punish overshadows any moral profile of a law enforcement officer? Moreso, it's covered up by a superior on duty that night. Seems to me like a KKK club of some sort.. What to do? Should EC police cars have video recording of the incident? It is very disturbing that these two policemen are out there on the streets of their town exercising entrusted power over individuals so immorally. Is there a feasible way to suspend these officers to prevent that from happening to innocent laymen?

But thus do I counsel you, my friends: distrust all in whom the impulse to punish is powerful!

Why can't such an affluent and (educated?) town have a matching police force?

This is completely different case, i.e. the book is being used illegitimately by those who should uphold the book! What's worse - it goes unscrutinized, i.e. the law is broken by those who are supposed to protect it..

I am dating a gal from Englewood Cliffs who lives in an upscale area off Sylvan Ave. Last night, as we were coming from a grocery store, cruising the neighborhood recognized my car (see previous post) and stopped me again..(!!!- I couldn't believe it) to allege erradic driving, being under influence, and to make me do all the tests - walk, touch nose, keep my foot up to count, etc.- as I was sober, I did all they wanted me to do and was let go. The accute impression of police profiling, however, remains strong and vivid... Englwood Cliffs residents - you deserve better than your local police harassing innocent people, completely out of control.. If I only were powerfully connected to voice it more effectively. I am glad there is at least this forum so someone, somehow hears about this perhaps periferal to town's life, yet quite impactful to individual life..
