"At various points while troopers were arresting Mayo, he kicked a trooper in the leg, gave the same trooper a "shoulder block," then, once placed in a patrol car, he began kicking the car's dashboard and passenger door, police said."
Various points probably means as 4 troopers were jacking this guy around, kneeling on the back of his neck with his face pushed into the pavement, he fought back and was still P'O'd when they launched him into the car. "To keep him from damaging the car or hurting himself, the officers wrapped duct tape around Mayo's legs. When they tried to place Mayo back in the car, he spit in a trooper's face, police said. Mayo was then pulled from the car and sprayed with pepper spray." He's cuffed and duct taped as they jacked him around again and has a little fun with him again on the pavement. With no appendages to use to stop the abuse, his mouth is all he has. So they pull him out of the cruiser, again intoduce him to the pavement and now that he's all trussed up, give him a good pepper spray shower. That'll teach him. "Firefighters responded to decontaminate Mayo and the trooper. Troopers then placed a "mouth/spit mask" on Mayo and took him to the state police barracks in Tolland. Once there, police said, Mayo became belligerent and was hit with the Taser." So, now, you have him all trussed up with a Hannibal Lector mask, duct taped, cuffed and still very angry about being stomped by who knows how many Troopers. He can only mumble his indignation. So, inside the Gulag, away from prying eyes, you taser him and watch him flip around on the floor as you enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee. A great day's work. That's what I read in this article. |

Your interpretation is plausible. Definitely, there was no reason to pepper spray him after he was immobilized. The Taser is similarly used inappropriately by some. |

yea thats the same thing i seen happen at the scene, kid was bugging out cuz troopers surounded his screwming at him kid wasnt really driving recklessly either maybe excessive speed but what 24 year old doesnt..

i get the journal inquirer and the hartford courant. So why is it that in the other paper it doesnt say anything about 2 counts or assault and shoving it does say he kicked and spit but no shove. i dont know what is true but i dont think the defication of character is necessary , kid obviously has enough to worry about other then the paper making it turn out to be worse then it is. and on the other note i do believe naugatuck has some truth about the comment, hey who knows better then the kid that was there
"troopers surounded his screwming at him"? What exactly does that mean? And excessive speed is acceptable because he's 24 y/o? Okay. I didn't realize that 24 year olds had that privilege, or I would have taken advantage of it when I was 24. |
There's no point to reply to this......you said it all, and I see it diffrently. I won't even give you the honer of being called the turd of the year. |
What's a "honer" boner? Is your Mom a cop? |

Yeah, that sounds about right. Nothing like a severe beating with a side order ofpepper spray, topped off with a shot from a tazer. And what did you do at work today? |
What did you want the cops to do to this creep? Maybe they should have served him a Starbuck's latte, and asked what made him drive so recklessly in the schoolyard, while soothing him like Mommy used to do. GET REAL THE GUY WAS STONED! The cops were doing their job.

Stop making excuses for this loser.
Spitting on an officer is considered assault. He deserved the spray, and he deserved the tazing. "What 24 year old doesn't [drive wrecklessly"? What an idiotic thing to say. |
There's a big difference between doing your job and doing a job on somebody. Ever watch "Cops"? There's always more cops than "suspects". Everything involves excessive force and over reaction. And that's with the camera on. It's worse in everyday life. |

Naugatuck: Have you ever walked in a cops shoes ?If the answer is yes, then you must know what you're talking about. If you haven't,try it some dark night, in a violent neighborhood known for it's disrespect for any type of authority and then let us know if you still feel that way. I'd rather have a live cop then a dead one. To resist arrest is a crime, and it is stupid to fight the police . It's a hell of a lot easier to talk then to fight. Be a man and own up to what you've done wrong.

u know u ppl leave a lot of good comments but the one u didnt leave is , Is the news full of it? like how lmuch of this aint true but at same time how much is real, the kid could have said he smoked weed like a week ago, and paper sayz he was stoned,a beer 8 hours ago and takin urine test with still say alcohol is there but without breathalizer was the kid really drunk, after they sprayed him and he got up tied and fell over, was that the shoulder check? see u ppl dont know how much the papers mix thing up same with those COPS, thank you for reading this.

24 year old kid: WOW! what are you smoking? If the police stop you, don't put up a fight and you won't have any problems. A lack of respect for authority seems to be prevalent with today's young people. GROW UP! act responsibly, like law abiding citizens. If you don't ,then you are destined for one of CT. correction centers where big Bubba is just waiting for wise guys like you. He'll teach you a lesson you won't forget.

Yes, I have. I also know a lot about the Police mentality. My position was such that I was in the midst of Police inner activity and heard real horror stories about the "azz kickin" that was just administered and the ensuing laughter. As I said, it's more prevalant than you think. You only see the facade put up to hide that stuff. There is really a Code of Silence. This Judge did the right thing. He smelled something and it wasn't the truth. |
Yes and a lot of judges don't always rule fairly. They are not infallible and some have their own agendas. Remember they are politically appointed.
I believe the Judge. You don't. You believe the Cop. I don't. Fair enough. We won't get into the qualifications for either position. |
Joan....Sorry. I got my threads crossed. I was referring to the incident where the judge threw the case out because the Cop had abused the suspect. This kid, while taking what I consdier abuse, will not be dismissed. He broke too many laws and will not walk. Unlike the other case, they had probable cause to rough him up. Sorry about the screw up, but it was enjoyable to interact with such a polite person. |
