I have the same question... I got a call from the office the other day, they canceled my upcoming appointment, asked if i wanted to switch to another Dr. in the office and gave me another appointment 3 weeks from now.

Just seems real strange he has vanished.. I really liked him too..

I feel the same way. I am sure there is someone out there that knows something. Please help us understand as he was a caring and very likeable doctor who took a real interest in his patients.

He was the best doctor that I ever had! I am so upset about all of this. The office will not give out any information and I don't like the other doctor that they referred me to. He was a wonderful man and I wish that there was something that we could all do.

I agree he was the best doctor! I was so upset when I received that letter that the office sent out. The way that letter read was as if he was fired or something.
Someone on another site for rating Dr Skalski wrote that the lab told them that he was out of the whole Johnson Memorial Hospital network....One of my friends said she heard he was starting his own practice..but if that was the case then he would have taken his patients with him.

The only suggestion I have is to write a letter to him at his home. I wasn't sure if this is appropriate but I'm torn since he was the best doctor I don't want to lose him as a doctor!! I have his address because he lives in Somers and that's where I'm from.
Let me know what everyone thinks about this idea.

I was also saddened to see Dr Skalski "disappear". I don't know what happened, but whatever went down must have been quite a big deal. I had another doctor leave a practice, but there was notice with the offer to go to his new practice.

When I picked Dr Skalski, I had wanted a younger, computer literate doctor. He was very brisk with the visits, but he always greeted me with a handshake, always looked over the frequent blood test results, and always asked if there were any issues. A normal visit was only a few minutes, but he would always spend more time if you had questions. I always felt he had spent enough time with me, and had a good idea of how I was doing based on the bloodwork. I also liked how he checked you himself, not depending on a PA to do the work.

I just hope that whatever happened was simply a business matter and that he would resume his practice.

I don't think it would be an issue to write to him, expressing concern, hoping things are well, and telling him that he is missed. If there is an issue that would not allow him discuss what happened, then we need to respect his privacy. If it is an issue that affects his patients, then it will come out in due time. If its a personal matter, then we can just wish him the best.

I myself was very surprised about Dr. Skalski. He treated my husband and me. I wish I knew what had happened. No one is saying a word and I'm sure they all know. Plus have you all notice that Carol is gone too. Something is up and I hope he is starting and new practice. I'm sure if he is someone will find him. I sure miss him..

Here is what is puzzling -- I saw him on 9/13 in the morning, another family member saw him in the afternoon. He was gone the next day. His wife was in the office that afternoon before patients were told he was gone. I don't believe he would just "abandon" his patients without notice. Doesn't make sense. Furthermore, Johnson Memorial Hospital did take him out of their network. For a while, Hartford Hospital acted like they didn't know anything about the matter. Now, if you go into their website there is a note next to his picture and description stating he isn't taking any new patients at this time. When I called a new very busy and large practice in Enfield, as soon as I told them I was coming from Dr Skalski, they gave me this "lecture" about how if I was on pain meds, they wouldn't prescribe pain meds, they'd have to send me to pain management. It was weird. I simply was flabbergasted and spurted out that we didn't take narcotics. No matter what happened, I don't like the way CT Multispecialty Group has handled this matter. Whether or not they believe they have followed AMA guidelines does not matter to me. I will "play their game" and see "their" only other physician (as much as I already don't like him) in order to get the refills I need on current prescriptions - the other practice can't take us until January. If Skalski moves to another practice, clears his name, or resolves his personal matters, we'll move back to him because we believe he's a good physician. I've seen a few physicians have their careers ruined over issues they shouldn't be. Dr Skalski is a rather young physician with a family. He needs to continue to work and make a living. Don't believe anything you hear -- chances are there are two sides to this story and then there's the truth...

I am also very disappointed with Ct. Multi-specialty (ALSO KNOWN AS JERKS) I saw Dr.Skalski on Oct. 13th and my sisters appointment for the 14th was cancelled. I had a significant cervical problem and was sent by the OTHER doctor at CMS to St. Francis eMEMRGENCY ROOM due to the MRI results and the ER doc told me to see my doc within 3 days......... the OTHER doc could not see me until the 30th 2 weeks later and then CMS called me the day before and explained that I would not see the OTHER doc but the gynecologist would see me (great idea for a neck!!!!!) cms JUST LOST 5 PATIENTS IN OUR FAMILY AND I HOPE MANY MORE.......

I really miss Dr. Skalski and only wish him the best. As far as CMS ..........I can't use those words....

Deby: I completely cracked up when I read your post -- not at the seriousness of this post -- but because the office probably misunderstood you and thought you meant "CERVIX" versus CERVICAL - what complete idiots! DUMB IS FOREVER!!! They will eventually lose all three in our family -- we just need time...

OMG Deby that is just wrong! Although you may be better off...I was seen by his replacement and he with lack of a better phrase is a bumbling fool. I have gone to Dr. Skalski for many years as well as my entire family. None of us will be going to that office anymore. They have been so rude on the phone about appointments and scheduling. And don't ask about Dr. Skalski, I thought that the woman was going to come through the phone and slap me. I tried to get a number for management at CMS but they would not disclose the number and there is no way to contact them on the website. I want to file a formal complaint on how this entire situation has been handled. I hope Dr. Skalski is well and all I can say is that Karma is a bitch.

My husband and I were seen by the doctor taking Dr. Skalski's patients. We were hoping he would be as caring and considerate as Dr.Skalski, but to our surprise, he is a nightmare!!!Dr.Skalski has been our doctor for 2 years and he is the greatest. He really cares for your wellbeing. We miss him greatly!!It took all of 2 minutes for his replacement to change our prescriptions Dr.Skalski has had us on for 2 years. It also only took him that 2 minutes to tell my husband that he was not disabled because he had use of his hands. That's crazy because he never looked at his chart, never asked any questions regarding his disability, and never examined him. The state investigated my husband's claim for 1 year before they would put him on disability -talking to his doctors and surgeons and looking over his medical charts before they determined his disability.Apparently this doctor is better than all the professionals it took to determine his disability. We basically had to see this doctor because we needed our scripts, but you better believe that we will be looking for a more caring doctor to see in the future.

Mike, you see - that is just the problem here -- and why this practice should be under some scrutiny. I could bet a dozen to 1 that EVERY patient feels they lost a trusted friend when Dr Skalski left. That is exactly why the AMA guidelines are set forth the way they are. Doctors are looked down upon, frowned upon actually to abandon a patient. That is why doctors give notice to patients. That is why I confronted the practice manager of this practice about possibility of termination. I stated that if this doctor was terminated, a termination agreement should have been worked out because of the "abandonment" that patients have felt due to the sudden demise of this physician. What I got as an answer is no surprise to me given the way(s) this practice has handled this entire situation -- the answer was "We did not abandon any patient's needs as we have an equally competent physician here who can take over the care of the patients". Right.

Oh, and by the way, the "New" but not improved physician, having never met my disabled father already made a change to one of his medications when my father has been regulated appropriately for months by Dr Skalski. In the end, the change doesn't matter except for the fact that my father has to pay additional money for the prescription -- but all the same, why make changes when you have never met the patient -- especially when it isn't a change that is that dramatic as to make a difference? Already not impressed and know I won't be -- but again, like others, forced to take my care here until I can transfer to another location.

I am very upset about this whole situation as well. I hate going to the doctors and I have been going to Dr. Skalski for 4 years and felt he gave the best care ever. He was always very concerned with my well being and asked questions to make sure I was getting the right care. Something here is just not right. I don't want to go back to CMS now...looks like I will be finding a new doctor for myself and my family. I just hope eveerything is on the up and up and I'm sure everyone else will agree to that!

I actually ended up calling the medical relations department at Johnson Memorial Hospital to see if they knew anything. Dr. Skalski is still affiliated with them. I was told he would be making an announcement in the newspaper. I'm thinking he may be opening up his own practice. I don't think he was happy where he was.

i think dr skaski had issues with cms corprate policy and may have called them on it as he was truly concerned with his patients welfare and not towing a corprate line as it seems the office is run now if anyone else noticed since they moved to cranbrook it seems the office got more buisness like and less patient orientated except for dr skaski and carol as she treated me great every time i saw her

I think you're right Mike. I asked him more than once why he put up with the corporate BS at cms. I'm hanging loose waiting for the announcement he's supposed to be making in the paper. The lady at JMH wasn't sure when that would be. A friend of mine went to a specialist, who saw Dr. Skalski at the hospital. He didn't think it appropriate to speak in the hospital, but told the specialist that he would call him. She has to go back in a couple of weeks, so maybe she'll hear something. I, too, was thinking of writing him a letter. He's a really cool guy and a good doctor. A lot of folks are freaking out over what happened. His departure was sudden and his patient list is property of CMS. Keep the faith. We'll find out what's up. We just need to be patient. I don't know why this crazy thing said I was from Cincinnati, OH. I'm right here in CT!

I have been a patient of Dr Skalski's for many years as well, and agree with everything. It's strange that he's gone, I loved him as a Dr. He always made time to see pt's if they were sick. Can't stand the other Dr. I saw him 3 times and he was horrible. I haven't heard anyone say they like him. I too will looking for an announcement of a new practice!
