Hooray for increased enforcement of OHV's. So many of these riders are so arrogant and think they are invincible. This past holiday weekend I saw countless of these idiots riding on major highways as well as tearing up the hills and not on the trails or roads where there are supposed to be. Also, so many young people riding without helmets or being supervised. Where are their parents !!!! A very unresponsible group of people. The regulations should be even more strict.

Same ole thing. Just enforce the REGULATIONS already in place. Everybody wants everything regulated EXCEPT whatever activity they are engaged in.

I agree; however, nobody has the RIGHT to drive those motor bikes just anywhere they want to. If there were no rules, the dolts who own those machines will just wreck the place and create chaos.

LMAO someone is butt hurt. You sound very stereotypical (which is a sign that you are not very educated). Did you know out in the BLM you do not have to stay on trails that other people have created???? You should stay in school.

I agree with Johnny - people will do as they want instead of what they should until someone else forces them to behave. I watch 2 boys on their 4-wheelers do horrible things to our neighborhood while their parents sit on the porch and watch!

Speaking of education, did you know that BLM lands have three designated catagories for use?

1) Open areas -- cross country travel permitted. This comprises about 33% of the BLM land in NM.

2) Limited use area -- OHV's must stay in designated areas. Absolutely no cross country travel permitted. This comprises about 65% of the BLM land in NM.

3) Closed areas -- absolutely NO motorized or mechanized vehicles are allowed in wilderness areas. This includes mountain bikes.

"the dolts who own those machines"

Honestly people, such name calling.

You guys have honestly never riden one of these machines before. Never experienced the "freedom" of riding, of flying low and going fast. And all this from a grandmother of 9 (6 of which ride)

Our entire family rides. And do you know what is going on when I get nervous? My sons putting ON their helmets, because then I know they are going to get wild.

The 6 grandchildren ride, they pretty much put-put. I have to see that they are wearing a helmet? And goggles? Give me a break!

Did you go to the Fish and Game website? Did you see the photo for the safety course? The young rider is pulling up to a stop sign, the caption reads "young ohv rider being stopped at a road block". Seriously, this makes it sound like all that the young riders do is smuggle booze, guns and liquor!

And don't even get me started on trying to register a machine from a state that doesn't require it. Gave up after 5 months. What a fiasco the T&R department is!

I agree w granny. Here in AZ, every motorized vehicle needs to be registrard and tagged. Also to add, OHV tear up the soil and causes soil to deteriorate.

Yeah..that sounded really "educated."

Absolutely right. You can make your own trails, and so can the other ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE living in the tri-city area. then after a while, it's all trails and then the trees die and the animals leave and its all badlands, then we can REALLY go anywhere we want.
You should stay in school.
And so should you. At least long enough to understand what happens to an ecosystem when you destroy it completely. You should also learn what "erosion" is and how it affects the land that we grow your food on.

Or maybe you could take "Humanities" and gain an appreciation of the past thereby gaining some semblance of respect for your children and their children so you would want to preserve the wilderness for them to enjoy as well.

Or is it that you just don't give a damn about anyone or anything but yourself?

Thanks for "educating" Poopsy and us all about what the actual rules are about BLM land usage. So many people have zero regard for BLM land and use it like toilet paper.

It takes only 6.5 psi to give your grandchildren a break...in their necks or skulls.( Let's not even talk about what their eyes will look like after a crash without goggles into a tree.)

How about you give your grandchildren a break and help them stay healthy and alive?

I think it's wonderful that you, as well as your family have the opportunity to enjoy riding these wonderful machines. I myself ride near my home in the North Foothills area. However, with all due respect ma'am, please urge your family members to ALWAYS wear proper riding gear.. including helmets, goggles, shinguards, boots and gloves. One preventable accident could lead to a lifetime of sorrow, guilt and "what-ifs." Safety assures a pleasurable riding experience.
