Real Estate Agent

I have known the real estate agents on the city council for many years and I am very disapointed in them. Everyone knows that you have to pay for family going on a business or city trip. This amount of money is way beyond the normal dinner or night out provided by a vendor. Not only should the city council be called on the carpet but anyone involved on the staff should be investigated. Refund the money, any interest, and the city cost to do the investigation. Its time to clean house!

This is JUST the lining under a huge silver cloud..
The city employee's aren't paid well... NO raises or additional compensation was provided to any employee's... fire / police / parks / recreation... we're talking NO city employee's received raises.
These thiefs need to be fired.... Who they are or were means nothing...
if they aren't fired then this will just show how Rotten Mesquite really is...
this was completely wrong and everyone knows it was pure stealing!!
there's no OOPS... and a simple slap on the wrist about it.
This money should be paid back WITH interest... an investigation on other things should be followed... as well as the attorney general getting involved.
Employee's are FORCED to work overtime and extra events... but aren't over compensated!!!
the city puts on makeup for the camera....but a true investigation shows who they really are!'
now... a little more uncovering needs to be done!

This is not the only entity thathas had this happen-it happens even on the toll road authority if memory serves me right and other cities as well. How about a list of goverments where this has occurred from the state on down and even the free rides state politicians have taken. you could write a book on this. Probably about 1000 pages ,even more probably.!! Ho about a nice hard back book on our galloping about politicians,it could be done and very interesting .

No wonder my water bill was so high when I lived in Mesquite. You know none of these crooks will ever get in to any real trouble. The only thing they'll have to do is pay back the money and might not even have to pay it all back.

Everyone on the board was aware and even those not directly named should be held accountable. No guts or ethics. While investigating these matters, how about addressing those "absolutely necessary" yearly budget work sessions at Horseshoe Bay Resort???

I moved away from Mesquite in 1996 and even then elected officials were taking these New York trips. Back it up a lot further and see where it takes you on Mike Anderson. This would have been a city council position at that time. I remember the stories well of the things we did and saw.

How appropriate - Tuesday editorial related to the Madoff apology (at least he apologized) by Joe Queenan in the LA Times..... "Lamentably, the insincere, halfhearted, unoccasioned or self-serving apology has become a staple of modern life. Last year, when former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned, he had the nerve to say: "I have acted in a way that violates ... my or any sense of right and wrong."This arch phrasing suggested that he too had been a victim of his wrongdoing, that not only the people of New York had suffered but his own sense of right and wrong had been abused. This is a perfect example of the apology that, by its refusal to address what was actually done in terms suitable for the occasion, makes the public even more livid. After all, this was a man who was wielding his terrible swift sword at white-collar criminals while cavorting with hookers on the side. He didn't regret disgracing his wife and family or acting in a manner that violated some amorphous moral code. He regretted getting caught." Vaguely analagous with being a victim of lax enforcement of polices don't you think?

A buddy and I were solving city problems over beer and BBQ. So we have a bet going... Where the annual budget meeting will be held this year by the illustrious council and staff?
