The city can ask for an exemption. Train horns at 100 feet away from the track can only be so loud, I think it's 100db. Most of the trains that come through are terribly loud, more than 100db, it scares my wife and grandchildren. The whistle marker shows for 2 longs, one short and then one long. Some trains are ignoring this by blowing constantly through Emporia. Our crossings are well marked and don't need horns to be blown. Pass a city ordnance for trains: CSX and AMTRACK to stop blowing horns or do not allow them to pass through Emporia town limits.
