I wonder why none of the GSEP do not frequent this forum?

By Emergency Personel, do you mean the police department, or the Fire & Rescue folks as well.
We all frequent the Glade Spring forum, on a regular basis. |
I was referring to all. And I have a question, that I am beginning to think none of you can answer. |
What is your question?
Back on 9 September of this year, I had asked if Glade Spring had an Emergency Plan. Since no one replied to the post, I assume that there was either 1) no emergency personnel visiting here, or 2) they do not know. Now I know there are at least one.
So my question is: Does Glade Spring have an Emergency Plan and what does it say? |

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've not heard of an emergency plan for the Town. One may exist, on paper some where. are you referring to a plan, in the case of hurricanes, floods, etc?

Yes, Sir. This would also include train derailments resulting in a chemical spill or something happening along the interstate.
Which actually scares my wife more than the very slight risk of a hurricane or tornado. |

Type up emergency plan for washington county va it should help you out

Nope, been there, done that. The only thing worth noting that I found was Washington County's copy of the Federal terrorist threat level ... something(?)
I thought in order for a town to receive grants from the Department of Homeland Security, they had to have a Emergency Operations Plan and a Hazardous Materials Response Plan in place. Which covers a lot more than just terrorist. It is beginning to appear that Glade does not. Sad, stupid, but sad. |

The Fire Department & Life Saving Crew have Standard Operating Procedures which they follow concerning Train derailments/emergencies, in conjunction with Norfolk/Southern Railroad. As far as the Interstate is concerned, anything beyond simple motor vehicle accidents may fall into the area of mass casualty incidents, and/or hazardous material events. In these cases, there are steps that the agencies will automatically take to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved, and the community at large.
I don't believe that these plans are published anywhere that is easily accessed, at present. If you'd like access to them, I'd suggest contacting Washington County Emergency Management Office, as well as the Town of Glade Spring Town Manager, and submit a request. |
