It has come to my attention that denominational preachers do not appreciate the people in the pews to be asking questions in a manner which may test (or try) the preacher/teachers lesson.
Is this true?
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.(Acts 17:11)
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.(1John 4:1-6)

I just assumed the members of each church were free to ask the teacher/preacher any question about a bible topic.
After speaking to some people who are members of denominations I learned they really do not feel comfortable challenging (testing/trying) the speaker.
Each member is commanded to check the bible to make sure the speaker is delivering a message of truth.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.(Jn 5:39)
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.(1Tim.2:4)
I have noticed in most cases when the preachers message was tested (or tried) according to (1Jn 4:1-6) the preacher immediately gets defensive.
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Part of the reason we have so many churches today is b/c the members in the pews refuse to test what the preacher is teaching. The speaker should not mind being tested if he is teaching truth.
Most members refuse to read and study their bible so they could recognize when error is being taught (Eph. 3:3,4).
4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)

2 Timothy 2:15 in a KJV.
STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Approved unto God, not your Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Catholic, Lutheran, or Church of Christ preacher.

Do not misunderstand what I am trying to do. I am not trying to get the approval of those you listed above. I hope in some way to get them to do as those in Berea (Acts 17:11)(1Thess.5:21).
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Before planting a garden the weeds must be removed and the ground must be turned over good. It is my hope that some people finally decide to open the Bibles and not just accept whatever their preacher says without testing his message against the word of God.
10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.(Jer.1:10)

17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.(Rom. 10:17)
...for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.(Rom. 14:23)
Can you find your church in the New Testament?
If not, it is time to ask your preacher some serious questions.

What is so awful about asking a question in bible class, or any other time for that matter?
