Could someone post the link to the original story because I am confused. How do you KILL three people while trying to parallel park? She couldn't have been going more than a few miles per hour, right? In any case, I feel for the family of the victims. I would be incredibly upset if I had to know three people I loved were dead and the only thing their killer received was a couple of citations.

It was a accident,it's not like she intentionally was trying to kill those people.

If this was a young driver what would they have been charged with? Accidents happen but 3 people were killed. If they were my loved ones I wouldn't let this rest.

What punishment could she get that would be worse than living with the fact that she killed three people for the rest of her life?

I used to be very opened minded when it came to PO articles. Could you please run your original newspaper article again for all to see. This was a very very unfortunate accident. Why in the world would the Public Opinion address this article like there was a crime committed? This is so sad and so is your so called newspaper, SAD! This a very sad story reported by sad journalism. This woman would never intentionally hurt anyone, this happened at a church non the less...

I am sure there will be lawsuits and she has to live with this horrible event the rest of her life

Sounds logical if you don't know the whole story. Try to get the whole story (I'm not sure how) and you will see it differently.

I doubt there will be lawsuits, but you are right about the rest.

This was a terrible accident, I remember reading about it in the Frederick Newspost. In that article it mentioned the family of the victims had visited the lady who caused it and they were forgiving. I know this has had to weight heavily on her.

Chad Kirby didnt mean to kill anyone either just protect his kids from a intruder but look what he got........no difference if you take a life by car or a life by gun end result somones dead dont sound right to me maybe her age and where it took place had to do with the outcome ?

Part of the advantage of driving an SUV is improved sight from riding "high up".
But this improved vision does not apply when backing up.
I assume she backed over these people and never realized it.
A back-up camera may have prevented this.

What a disgusting newspaper that lets ignorant people drag someone through the dirt who has already been to hell over this. How many of us have made similar mistakes and by the grace of God no pedestrians were in our way. It was an accident! This woman has been traumatized and she was just going to church! My Godness, leave her alone! The paper should not allow a bunch of morons to talk this way about her. You should be grateful it didn't happen to you and it could!!! Have some compassion. Imagine how she feels. She's a good person and something horrific happened to her because she's human and made a mistake. I hope the paper get's lawsuits thrown at them for allowing comments to annialate some people and for others the comment section is not available.

Thanks for the link. It cleared a little bit up. I have to agree with other posters though. Yes, this was a tragic accident, and, yes, this woman does have to live with it the rest of her life. However, if the driver would have been a twenty-something killing three pedestrians, wouldn't they have at least been charged with involuntary manslaughter?

The family of the victims is her, she backed over her daughter and son inlaw while parking. She is old and old people shouldn't drive....
