Homespun Weavers going-out-of business -- themorningcall.com

Full story: The Morning Call

We seem to be writing a lot of requiems for old-fashioned businesses lately. Last week, it was Guth's, the Bethlehem luggage store that's closing after more than 80 years.

I have looked for your company products, especially the dish cloths used for washing dishes. The last ones I purchased in Millersburg, Ohio. Do you have any in your going out of business sale??

It's very sad to hear of the end of Homespun Weavers. I purchased a lot of fabric for more than 30 years for myself & gifts. I now live in the Adirondacks, need more fabic, & went on line only to find there will be no more of this quality. Did anyone buy the equipment to start another business? Is there another company that weaves this quality fabric?

I am saddened to hear that your wonderful tablecloth fabric and great dishtowels will no longer be available. I believe I bought my first tablecloth in the 70's. Thanks for your quality products over the years

I too am so sorry to hear that Homespun Weavers are going or went out of business. I have about 5 tableclothes and only one is the right size for my table. I'd love to order another.

They are just perfect for my home, not only the way they look but the way they launder. I have adult foster care and use them for every meal.

Real pity.

I am truly saddened to learn that Homespun Weavers have gone out of business. I purchased my first tablecloths before 1977 when you were located on Ridge Street and am still using them today. Imagine! Napkins with no stains on them after all that use! The quality is unsurpassed. My daughter is a hand weaver so I know the time and effort that go into making these fine products. I feel as if an old friend has died. I wish all the fine people who worked at Homespun Weavers the very best.

I'm devastated to hear that your wonderful products will no longer be available. Will there be anyone succeeding the business with the same quality and similar color selection? I wish everyone associated with the business my very best.

I am so sorry to hear you are going out of business! I have been making table cloths from your fabric for my home and gifts for many, many years. If you know of anyone else that offers similar fabric, or plans to take over the business, please post the information. Thank you for your beautiful products and your years of hard work.

I can't believe this! I too have been purchasing your fabric since the 70's. My husband made me a new dining room table and I was just looking to order fabric to make a large tablecloth for my new table for Thanksgiving. Whatever shall we do without YOU???

NO! No! Say it isn't so. A friend so admired my diamond weave pattern tablecloth and wanted one also. I gave her your telephone number and she called me to say you were closed. I had requested another tablecloth on my Christmas list. I quess that is one thing I won't get! I have been using these exclusively for 30 years or more. Where can we find anything nearly as nice.

This is just terrible. I still use my first tablecloth from 1976. I only own 8 of them. Why would such a great company close? Sad to see them go. Wish them well. Now were do all the faithful customers go to shop for such great tablecloths?? I needed two more for this years events. Stunned in Sagamore Hills, Ohio

This is horrible news. I,too, have had my tablecloths for years. I love getting out my red and green Christmas table cloth and setting the table for my very traditional Christmas Eve dinner. What a loss. Does anyone know where to get something as wonderful? My best wishes to all who were connected to this company that produced such lovely cloth.

Am still using the cloths I purchased in the 70s
and they look brand new. Unfortunately, the kitchen table hasn't faired as well and I was
hoping to purchase cloth to fit the new one. Does anyone know if there is still any fabric available?

This is unfortunate to say the least. I asssume that because the cloth was of such high quality and because we didn't have to replace our tablecloths very often at all, that the company could not afford to continue. I would have been happy to pay far more per yard! I have been purchasing fabric for 35 years. I will miss the lovely look in my home.

For years we purchased tablecloths from Homespun Weavers. After our children left home, they did not get the "wear and tear" and just now I decided that we needed to replace two or three of the "well used and well loved" ones.

I am so sorry to read that the business closed - and hope that someone will start producing a quality item like Homespun Weavers soon.

I was wondering why I was having such a hard time finding ordering information on Homespun products. My mother wanted a new table cloth for Christmas and I knew just where to go. How sad you have closed. We used to live in Allentown/Bethlehem and went to Emmaus all the time when we had visitors. Has anyone come up with an alternative product?
