I agree with you Pilot - People aren't paying as much attention to the roads anymore. I see less woman putting on lipstick and more texting and fussing around with gadets then ever before and it'll get worse. I'm not against technology - I have a degree in IT. But there's a time and place. I map out my couse before I leave - GPS or Map and funny GPS is alway the longer route for me. My husband is stone age God Bless him - we call him Mapman because he swears by the old paper and he always folds it right. But his way is always less traffic, quicker or sometimes when wanted more scenic and beautiful. I hate it when he's right but this time I gotta say it.
Anyway - the point being why don't we find out the location before we go, talk to people before or after we get there and just relax & enjoy the ride or more important be aware of your surroundings, to help avoid being carjacked, getting in an accident, etc.

my GPS will give me the fastest route.. It might also be the longest.. Meaning, although there is a shorter route, based on average speed and time, the longer route is sometime faster... Hope that makes sense.. My GPS has a setting (which I am going to assume yours probably does as well) to use the most direct (shortest) or quickest route.

Well that makes you the lucky one, but I am assuming since your IT humor, you must be handy with computers, so maybe that is why you have had a good experience with it?

Yeah.. I have a degree in it, and about 10 years experience in different programming languages, but I think MS vista is great. If you are familiar with MAC, then Vista isnt a big change.. a lot of similarities actually... I know of no one with any bad experience.. instead most people are like you, and recall the bad experiences of others.. never first hand. the only problem i have is it takes about 1 gig of ram to run correctly.. that is a lot of space.. then again, not really a lot of space anymore now that PC are being sold with at least 3 gig of RAM.

It's kind of amusing to see the consistent self-righteousness displayed by a lot of folks here in Comments. On every single, local news item.

I mean, you'd think most people here were angels when they were teenagers.

I think that is what the major problem was, it takes a lot of memory to run, and when it first came out, most computers didn't come with the 3 gigs they come with now. Oh well, maybe I'll give it a shot on my next comp., but for now, I still like XP

ill be honest with you.. I dont like the graphical interface that is the likes of Mac.. I simply set up my system to use the classic views.. im used to Windows 2000, and dont take to graphical changes all that much.. i think most of the bugs have been worked out.. However, I will always admit that if you are a graphic artist or musician, then Mac is the way to go.. Otherwise, gamers and home users should use the less expensive and easier upgrade capacity of the PC environments.
