Today when I woke up, and found that our five year old whirlwind was already up and making breakfast all by herself. I cleaned up the mess while Mom dressed her for school and thought myself a lucky man.
But I had my doubt four years ago when we adopted her from China, but I knew once my wife picked her up at the orphanage she was not going to let her go and as always my wife was right. My wife always wanted to adopt and today it is almost impossible to adopt in the USA, so we went to China,
My daughter was found at a vegetable market as a newborn and had her so called parents known she was a girl chances are she would have been aborted.
The pro choice crowd may feel it would have been better for her to have been aborted, but as her Dad I feel very different.

How in the hell do come up with such a BULLSH!T statement?

My grandson was adopted from Russia orphanage when he was 6 months old 91/2 years ago. Two years later my son & daughter in law were attempting to adopt a Chinese girl, but it fell through.

My wife has been a child-birth educator and doula for 12+ years and assisted in 100's of births. I was honored to have been invited to videotape a home-birth by one of her 'moms.'

We both feel the miracle of birth is nature's greatest wonder. Neither of us advocate abortion for anyone but we damn sure don't want women to be without that choice.

Well said.

And no, my views have not changed since becoming a mother. I have daughters, and daughters-in-law, and I will fight for their right to have the same choices I had when I CHOSE to continue all of my pregnancies, including the one that was unplanned.

You are obviously younger than I. My views have not change since 1962. Even as a junior in high school I knew the anti-abortionists were nuts!

Burned into my memory just before my junior year in high school was the picture of Sherri Finkbine departing for Sweden to get a legal abortion. The Romper Room lady and mother-of-four had taken thalidomide, which was causing all kinds of birth deformities. She received the official Swedish permission for her abortion on my 16th birthday. Both she and her husband lost their jobs. When they got home their kids were harassed and her doctor refused to keep her as a patient.

I decide at that point in time that the anti-abortion crowd was mean spirited irrational, immoral, and unChristian. Within a year I had walked out of the bible-thumpin' fundamentalist church and never looked back.

The anti-abortion, forced birthing crowd is nothing but an anti-woman, anti-sex, and anti-reason cult.

And looking back on it, it is apparent that a woman who is somewhat well off can ALWAYS get a safe abortion. But the poor, under-educated young women who are geographically trapped in the most backward of states with the most restrictive access to safe abortions face either unsafe methods in unsanitary environments, self induced, or becoming one of the welfare queens the Reich-wing love to hate.

Exactly right. I can never understand their attitude toward social programs designed to help these children they insist should always be born. Not to mention the barbs thrown at their mothers.

You are exactly wrong. What 'attitude' toward social programs that help children are you talking about. What barbs that are thrown against the mothers of these children? You are talking nonsense.

If you haven't seen the comments about "sluts" who can't "keep their legs closed", or the comments about Welfare Queens, etc., it's not my fault. Pay better attention, Witless.

I hear ugly things about Christians too but I don't believe for a minute that most normal people feel that way. Hope you don't judge the many by a few. Most people can have a conversation without insulting the other but I wouldn't think so if I only saw your posts. Everyone is not like you.

A few? Like I said, Witless, pay better attention.
