A strike would work except for one thing. People don't have vision. They think strike and they worry that they won't be able to continue to pay their $100+ cable bill or pay for cell phones, internet, that third car and so on. We have people "NEEDY"... We try to make as much money as possible to collect as much material goods as our houses, garages and storage sheds can hold. Spending all of our paychecks and plus a lot more on credit to gather as much junk as possible. Thus one missed paycheck and the house they built on sand crumbles. They have no vision that all that crap is not important. Friends, Family and for gods sake talking to people over a fence, neighborhood cookouts, helping your neighbor..... They cant see that a few days without pay could reap benefits for generations... Nope they will continue to get up in a house the bank owns and drive to work in a car the loan company owns to get their daily pittance so they can go home and watch 400 channels, play video games, watch a wide screen TV the credit card company owns and wonder why they can't get ahead. I rambled, I apologize..

<quoted text> Right ON! You have stated the affairs of this country to the core. We Americans have been bought and sold down the river,by our own leaders. Disgusting isn't it? Yep, alot of us ole' hippies protested for great changes, some we won-others deflated. I respect countries like France who do not just take it-but stand up for their citizen rights. America needs to stop being the world police and start taking care of it's own-crack down on the crime is a starter. Stop the handouts, create jobs-let folks feel pride once more. One last thing- STOP THE WAR!!!
Look around, the people who care, really, care. Are they willing and able,I cann`t see meany.Today I think we are going down.90% of this world, must die,and fast, and thats not going to happen.Think about it out of Gas,Food,Water. Not a pretty picture, and here it comes..

Howdy Vernon Guy, You are so right on! Our parents saved for a rainy day. My parents were thrifty,we always thought our DAD was a tight-wad. But in reality he was looking out for our future. Neighbor chats,cook-outs and holiday gatherings still exist. I prefer simple folks like myself. Keep the flashy "let me show you my new materialistic object" away from me. The world today is the "I got to have it-NOW",there are those that live for the day and not beyond that.Believe me when a crisis does occur, they are looking for a handout. An easy fix to a problem they created. One just needs to take responsibility for themselves in every aspect. Until that happens, there will be turmoil.

Change for whom? Change in what way? Other than the new people taking office, things never change for the working middle-class. We don't have an American president no matter who gets elected. We have a district manager in charge of America for making a profit for global corporate masters.
The Senate only communicates new ordes to the American people that are drawn up by global entities, not American interests.
When will you gullible idiots ever get it?
It seems more people are beginning to realize this is true. Maybe if the economic downturn continues for a few more years, people will actually get off their collective duffs and DO something about it. We DO NOT Have to elect these corporate puppets from the two wings of the one party system, that is what they want you to believe. There is always many choices for office out there and people continue to vote for the huge corporate sponsored and funded choices. Here's a clue, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE ENDORSED BY THE VERY TWO PARTIES THAT ARE RUINING THIS NATION TO BE ELECTED TO OFFICE!! You only need to wish to sponsor the citizens and their interests. A candidate plastered all over the media is the last person WE need in office, the corporations need them in office. The Democrat and the Republican parties have already done enough to put us where we are today, this has been coming for years and years and it is finally catching up to them. The two wings of this ONE party need to ALL go!

My debt is almost non existent also, I haven't trusted the crap I see goin on in this country for many years. No CC bills, small mortgage for a house that functions, not bigger and better than the Jones', and a vehicle to get me to work(and play in the woods with now n then) that is mine not the banks. The single largest "debt" I have is taxes to the very people who do not listen to the wishes of their citizens. My American dream is to not owe anyone anything.

Howdy "HADENOUGH LEHIGHVALLEY", my ole stompin grounds. WOW this is a trip-psychic powers working or what? Just rec'd my east coast food delivery order, complete with Tastykakes and went on this thread. Yepper I believe all of us have the same American dream. The tax collector will always be knocking at the door, whether you own your home or not. Taxes are on all purchases and lest not forget the yearly April 15th tax day. I don't live beyond my means, either. If I don't need it-I don't buy it. Clutter free lifesyle. Citizens vote for the betterment of the state and country. The top officials have stopped listening,it's all about what they want to do. It's a no-win situation. We will always be under their thumb. All one can do is live your life as best as can be and don't forget to treat yourself. Peace~

If that was the end of the story, it might be tolerable. But the real outrage comes when the powers-that-be who write the policies that enrich the already super-wealthy while further eroding the standard of living for the working class decide to wage war.

Not only do they take away the American Dream that the working class strived for and used to attain, they take away more blood and treasure from the same lowly working class in order to advance their own personal wealth and power. Waging war to protect the people is one thing; waging war to obtain oil rights while profiting from the businesses of waging war is despicable.

And if one looks beyond the layers of deceit and finger-pointing that went on for the TV cameras, it was Congress that authorized every mercenary act that was committed, voted for every policy that fed the flames of war, and took every dollar that any lobbyist put in front of them while the American common citizen paid for it all with their blood and treasure. But all we see is the corporate controlled mass media pitting one political party against the other, when in fact it is both parties who are to blame. For they both act as one party that takes from the poor and gives to the rich…every single time.
