I thought the gravel pit was a thing of the past...I noticed on my way to the Falls the other day, that there is a new entryway there? Is it still in progress? We sure don't need all the expense that has been put into it:(

we don't need another one...I think the county has aready spent more than 200,000 for it. He gave them the right to do something like this without voting? Is that legal?
Lets all remember that next election

I thought that before something like this was acted on, that it had to be posted in the paper for a couple of weeks??

Voters need to pay attention to what the candidates do and say as well as how they spend your tax dollars! For instance Jeff Cowen didn't campaign very hard and during the last week he put an ad in the paper apologyzing for not getting to meet more voters. If he can't go the extra step to get elected how can he be expected to be enthusiastic about performing the job once he is sworn in. Please read between the lines and evaluate the individual. It is Friday and he hasn't even begun to pull down his campaign signs while all the other winners and losers signs have been removed. You are complaining about the gravel pit and the waste of your money. Pay attention to how Jeff Cowen votes on this issue; better yet ask him where he stands on it!

I just hope he is not going to be led by Herman Kelly like all the other guys are...I know Jeff is a good guy but time will tell if he is going to be a puppet or if he is going to be his own man.

You know that we need cheaper rock it's costing the county money to buy chat from the quarry in Willow Springs so by saving the county money we can give it to the Sherff's office and we can have more deputies and new pick ups to drive I like my new pickup and I want to thank the commsioners for buying it for me I take it every where and I took it deer hunting and it was real nice so you all shut your mouths about the commisoners or I'll put your asses in jail got that.

We have a good quarry in Eminence already. Why are they spending all this county money on this (and who is in charge of it). When there is already on just a few miles down the road?
I am sure someone is going to lining their pockets??

If they would fix these freaking county roads it would be nice. We pay taxes and for what I haven't figured out yet. We are lucky if our road gets touched twice a year. With the snow this year thewy did manage to blade it once most of the snow had already melted off.I think the whole damned county need new people in office. Before you go spouting off to vote I did and it sure as hell wasn't for any that are in there now. What a bunch of worthless backstabbing, lying politicians. I have heard Dale talking about Jeff and Herman behind their back more than once. Herman is a player and will tell you what you want to hear but never does anything but give you that shit-eating grin and Jeff is just like Dale will talk about someone behind their back but when you see them together they are all kiss-ass nice to each other's face and to the public. This county is such a joke.

Well Jeff, Your are so right...!! That is part of the complaint. We don't know anything about this. This was done without anyone knowing ANYTHING about IT!! Just slid in behind everyones back.

As you said, I don't knows anything about why this was done, and neither does anyone else. We have one just down the road ( and I think we should be supporting our own county and not buying from Willow Springs in the first place) I think some pockets are being lined there also!!

SO JEFF, why don't you tell up about it and then our heads will be out!!

What happened to the millions of dollars received from FEMA after that flood a few years ago? Roads are worse now than before, where did the money go?

Yes, where did it go? I think there should be an itemized statement to show where every dollar went or where it is going to go. Also, what I don't understand is why we are not buying from one of the two gravel pits here in Shannon County. Why would Shannon County be buying gravel from Howell County. Doesn't make any sence. I think we should be given an answer to both of these questions REAL SOON!!
Also, how much money HAS been spent on the new gravel pit AND why does our money need to be spent on it instead of using the 2 we already have. That money sure could be used on city street, etc.
