I grew up in the area, my grandparents are neighbors with the family and victims. I just hope and prey that they are all given privacy and space in this tragic time.

I was very close to the family that this tragedy has happened to, and it has completely devastated me knowing that something like this can happen to the people i care about the most...

I am from Castle Dale I went to elementary school and junior high with Peter Sharp. In elementary he was normal kid. He was actually a pretty popular and very well liked. But oddly when we got into junior high I noticed that he had become a bit more quiet and shy. He was still a very nice and polite kid; he just didn’t seem to have as many friends. I think it was around 9th grade when he started being home schooled. He became segregated from others his age and was treated like an outcast. I always felt bad for the guy. There have always been a lot of things said about his parents and people have constantly teased him about it. I know this led him to become very defensive and caused him got into a lot of fights. Given his segregation and the issues regarding his parents, I’m not surprised to hear that he’s had some mental issues. I am however very surprised to hear that the sheriff was told that he has had to be treated like a five year old. I guess his siblings told the police that he needed to be treated like a five year old most of the time. What happened to him? This is crazy because he use to be a very social and capable person. I think it’s very sad and I just wonder what could have happened to him to make it where he needed to be treated like a five year old. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology and am currently working on my master’s degree in counseling, so I am aware of the many mental disorders and their possible effects. It’s just so hard to see people that you know develop these things and to hear how it has affected their lives. Also the mugshot picture that has been provided picture looks nothing like Peter either. He looks like he's in very poor shape. This is a sad situation and my sympathy goes out to the family. Hope all goes well with the other children in the family.

That is the best thing I heard all day. The family needs there space and I am glad you posted that on here.

It is disturbing to read all of the posts on this and other websites. Most of you have fought back and forth about religion, drugs, mental illness and other such nonsense, but you forget the whole point at hand. I am a resident of Castle Dale. I have lived here for 16 years and grew up in Orangeville just 3 miles from Castle Dale. I really grow tired of you all thinking that because we live in a small town that we are all a bunch of pologamist uneducated hillbillies. We have been on the news several times over the past 30 years. The Wilburg Mine Accident, Crandall Canyon Mine accident, and this double homocide. There are a lot of fantastic people that live here in our county. They don't do stories on all of the acts of kindness that go on here in our county. We are educated people just like you all but choose our small town life as opposed to your big city life. Does that give you a right to judge us? I am proud to live here. I am a college graduate raising three children here. We are a diverse group of LDS, Catholic, Baptist, Christian, white, hispanic, ect. Some people are "different" if you may, but don't think for a minuite that there are not "different" people that live in your communities too. Our community knows almost everyone that lives here. It does effect our whole community when something like this happens. Give the family the respect that they deserve. They are greiving and do not deserve all the bashing that is going on. We love our small town life.... educated, loving, caring people.

PETER WAS A GOOD KID. I GREW UP WITH HIM. MENTAL ILLNESS AFFECTS PEOPLE IN WAYS THAT YOU CANT UNDERSTAND UNLESS YOU HAVE IT. PEOPLE HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT MENTAL ILLNESS IS A DISEASE JUST LIKE DIABETES OR HYPERTENSION.
