My children carry a private insurance for their primary coverage. Their secondary insurance is the state funded Caresource Ohio. This optician is the only one in my area who is a listed provider on both insurance plans. Today the woman who handles their insurance told me "this is just too much of a mess with two insurances" and "you've taken up a gazillion hours of our time today"(she told me this on the phone at 5:20p.m....I didn't even initially enter their building today until after 4p.m.) and "this just won't work for us" and proceeded to hang up the phone on me. I have never been treated so unprofessionally by a medical professional in my life. Steer clear of this place!

There used to be a great eye doc at Target in Avon. Try there. I like being able to get my shopping done while my daughter gets her exam.

I went there only once and they charged my medical insurance some outlandish charge. I never heard of an eye optician charging medical. I guess its a way of getting extra money. And yes I thought their prices were high too. I will not go there again.

I truly can not believe the bad things I am reading, have been going there for 12 years, they have always treated me so nice. I too have two insurances and they always have them ready to go when i get there, they help me stay within my budget.

I have went to Dr. Helfrich since I was little. I now take my son there and yes I have had a handful of bad experiences since he started going. the doc's are still great with children and the front lady's are alright. they do get irritated very fast with children, and the fact that we are in there every other month because his glasses get broke. (he has been in them since he was 3, now 6) I do think the prices are very high. I just found a pair of sports glasses $100. cheaper at walmart. Same brand and everything.

This is a very good place to go. I have gone here all my life and I have always been treated well. They try very hard to accommodate everyone. Everyone there is friendly and professional. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I've never had anything but the best of care from this office. The eye exams are very thorough. Likewise, no problem with coordination of benefits between two different insurance companies. They've been great about taking care of my solder son on an emergency basis.

I just found a new place, called Eyenstein's Optical, in Lakewood. It's a bit farther out (in) for us, but the folks are really nice. The doctor is about 40, really cool, and took a lot of time with my girls.(His name's not Eyenstein, it's Dr. Lorand)

Oh, and the glasses were $139, and had a TWO YEAR warranty on them! Against anything.

I think this is a newer office, but they've got a lot of locations on the West side, and have been in business more than 20 years.

I think we've found our new eye place.

They did the same thing to me, and then my insurance billed me for 85.00. I get one free exam a year but I wear contacts so I pay the fitting fee and then for the contacts, but they were charging me for medical services. I believe it's because of all the technology he uses. I know his typical eye exam has changed and they do a couple of more tests than they did before. It's too bad, because I really like Dr. Helfrich, but I can't afford to pay over $200 a year for contacts and fitting fees.

I have been a patient of Doctor Matt Helfrich in Elyria for almost fifteen years now. I have been very delighted with his service and his staff is extremely helpful. I tell all of my family and my friends to only see this optometrist. I just love my new glasses and contacts from his office!! Thank you very much!

I would like to comment how happy I have been with Dr. Helfrich and his office. I have had no problems with the business and have been a patient for several years. I tell my family and friends to see him for their eye exams.
