if your animals are like one of the family then be responsible and keep an eye on them. both parties are wrong. but the disrespect animal owners show their neighbors is an indicator of their character of which they obviously have none.

If you love your cats, keep them in the house. I have had cats for many years and have never let them outside because I know how it feels to have your neighbors cat pees or poops in your bushes; which by the way CAUSED one of my neutered male to start spraying in my house!!!! KEEP YOUR CATS INSIDE LADY AND YOU WON'T HAVE TO CRY ABOUT IT.

Big man shoots little cat. What a jerk. The neighbor was correct, ALL he did was have to walk over there and ask her to keep her cat inside, obviously it got out by accident by what she has said. But there are people who let their cats run or don't spay and neuter create these problems. My friend took in a little kitten that was shot 3 times with a BB gun, who would do that? I hope the vet is able to determine the cause of death of the cat and if it's a BB Gun and this guy is a liar, charge him with cruelty and maybe even take his dogs away and give them to a responsible owner. People who shoot domestic animals should be banned from owning any.

I agree, dogs that run wild are considered a nuisance and picked up by the warden, cats should be kept in the owners house or yard, why should they be allowed in my yard to leave their waste and smell.

to Brenda, I'm sure he did ask her to keep it out of his yard,it's doubtful this was the first interaction over the cat, cat owners who let them roam think they have a right to do so. maybe we need laws against loose cats.

people have went totally crazy with trying to be politically correct with stray animals, people are going to jail over common sense, you get more time in jail for stray cat/dog repellents, than child abuse.these same people who cry my beloved pet in 90% of the homes are abused. & filthy, diseased, carriers of fleas, ticks,DISEASES & others.while their kids are neglected.enough of this insaneness, give the woman another cat. i do not believe anyone has the right to just kill an animal willy nilly, but with wild ,rabies,& all of the other thing that can happen with stray animals you use common sense.TO BE CHARGED AS A CRIMINAL IS INSANE.THE WOMAN WAS NOT TELLING THE TRUTH.

I would like to take this guys gun and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. You could tell he was lying and NOTHING gives him the right to shoot a animal. He is a freaking loser who should get max jail time. It is time to stop making excuses for these idiots. This was NOT a stray animal this was someones pet and this jerkoff knew it. It is pretty easy to tell the difference between a cat that is feral and a pet...coach you are nuts.

He's obviously not as good of a person as you think. Violence, and this was violence, solves nothing> I'd be a little concerned if I were this guy's fiance, if he can become that unglued over a little cat poop and pee (outside no less) how is he going to handle life's REAL issues? If this animal had truly become a habitual problem then a simple call to the animal warden would have been a significantly more appropriate and dare I say SANE solution. The cat would have been taken away and the owner would have had to pay a significant fine to get it back. Additionally, the whole world would not be making assumptions about this guy based on this bad behavior.

Here we go again. Animal abuse stories are getting to be a daily thing here. When are the political big wigs going to start, cracking down on animal abusers, and START toughening up the humane laws? I believe the answer is, when some political big wig gets his/her precious pet murdered, or injured by some animal abuser.

He needs to get his story straight. First he says "dogs killed the cat"..then he says he shot it. Which is it? What's the real truth of his story? Did the cat do anything he claims? His word against a dead cat. He should have simply called the authorities before shooting the cat.

well keep your pets in your yard!! people are getting pushed over the edge with other peoples pets doing sh** in/to their yard, and the owners don't do a thing about it. and people keep your dogs on leashes- there is a leash law!

THANK YOU!!

Having lived next to neighbors who constantly let their cats out to roam...I feel the guy's pain. We have lost several expensive plant potters due to the cats knocking them over, lost use of our garden from the cats using it as a toilet and lost the use of our front windows because the cats used our flower beds as a little box. No amount of sprays, powders etc have kept the cats out of our yard..not even our two dogs.

Approaching the neighbors doesn't always work. We've approached our neighbors SEVERAL times...they do nothing, except let out more cats. The city will do nothing.

If you own an animal...dog, cat, pig whatever..you are responsible for it. If is your job as a pet owner to ensure that the pet is safe and accounted for. End of story.

By no means am I saying the guy had a right to shoot the cat...but the neighbor also should have kept an eye on the cat. Both parties are wrong in this.

animal abuse is becoming a daily news story. i'm seriously sensing something is wrong here. ordinary people are "snapping" and doing horiffic things to animals almost daily. sadly, i think this trend will continue and will start involving more animals and innocent people. the people are at a breaking point and nothing is done to help "us" out of upside down mortgages, increasing costs, few jobs, no raises, a bleak future, big brother micromanaging our lives, lost retirement funds, more stress & no way to relieve it...ect, ect... it will only get worse

yes, animal abuse is wrong and these people need to be held accountable for their actions but, the question WHY? keeps nagging me. why are they hurting animals? why are they so fed up? why and how can we stop this? simply placing these people in jail doesnt seem to address the issues as to why they are lashing out. something bigger than "i just had a bad day" is at work here and we need to find the cause and fix it.
