i'm from sandusky and visited the pet store a couple of times and both times everyone was nice and helped me when i asked. there were two adults working and they let me take the pup in the room to play and brought toys for us to play with him. the gentleman came in and talked to me about the pup and even weighed the puppy so i would know how big he might get. the puppy was really attached to him! they all looked healthy and happy and i would adopt him today if i was allowed to have another pet in my apartment. you need to realize this is a rescue and some of the animals could have came in really poor shape.

I understand that Animal Zone has changed it's name..now it is Animal House...do we actually know it is not still owned by the same deplorable people?? I was in there just a couple of days ago and the animals looked sick, the cages were too small for three of the dogs to even stand up in. small cages were filled with kittens and some small cages had 4 young cats in them together. these cages would fit no more than 2 or 3 kittens and 1 young adult cat. I saw a very sick looking adult cat screeching uncontrollably in it's cage---and not the kind of attention seeking cry--something completely different. The animals don't appear to be getting exercise or proper care. For young animals these poor things had the weariest looks on their little faces.. just pitiful. I'm contacting the authorities today.

We bought a puggle puppy there this past December. She was 9 weeks old and healthy. She is friendly (jumped into our arms at the store) and VERY smart. A young man (who admitted to being a new employee) did misquote me on the price 2 times, but my husband and I fell in love with this pup. She was in a cage with her sister. Although I thought the cage was too small, my vet assured me that small dog breeds feel secure in small spaces...hence crate training your dog. One yellow lab puppy who was pudgy (well fed looking) did seem to be infested with flees, but that is VERY common when you have a group of animals. Flees are easily contagious AND can come from unhealthy on-lookers with poor hygiene. I don't think it was Animal Zone when we got our puppy and if it was, then I believe it was in transition mode. We got a wonderful dog, and the animals (minus flees) looked fine.

ALL animals need homes. Why snub the ones in stores? What happens to them? Will they get thrown in the streets and end up in pounds? Then will you adopt them? OR will they get euthanasia because no one cared to give them a Forever Home? SAVE ALL DOGS!!!

This store needs serious inspection. A.S.A.P.! The Mother dog and Her pups that were in the front window, were very, very sad. Dirty pee soaked newspapers. No toys, bedding or privacy for the new Mom to relax in. Other dogs and cats in inhumane wire cages. What is going on here? Where are the authorities? It was heartbreaking just to walk away and leave them there. This is not the way these innocent animals should be treated. Obviously unknowledgeable management!!! Will contact the humane society, please join Me!!!

I was in this store today to a find something rather shocking. Now I understnad that most of the cats there are rescues and when the pet store recieve them they probably are not in the best of the shape. Okay. But what I saw was REVOLTING. Aside from a few of the kittens in the display were rather skinny one kitten caught my eye in particular. The kitten was very small, part of it's fur on it's face was missing as well as its face looked damp. Well the little kitten came to the glass to sleep on another kitten and I swear I almost got sick! The kittens left eye was closed completely a thick yellowish goo at one corner seeping down it's face and the other eye seemed like it was getting an infection. I would like to know what the response is to this. I would like to hear someone TRY to tell me that little animal was not "sick" or that it was being treated. Bull. Further more I took pictures of the poor thing and I plan on going back after filing both a police report as well as contacting the ASPCA. There is no excuse.
God bless you for caring, Sarah.

Pet stores are horrible places to adopt a pet, anyway. The dogs are poorly bred animals from puppy mills. I was bitten by a raccoon being sold in that pet store years ago. I can't believe that place is still in business, it was a sh-t hole back in the day as well...
