i work there and this are all lies there is no parvo and there are no sick puppies and the birds are in excellent shape they are not plucking their feathers i work hard on my shift feeding watering and changing cages and if we get a sick puppy or kitten we quarantine it and vet it till its better and most of our cats and kittens are rescues and if people would spay and neuter their animals we would not have over population of pets we don't starve our animals or sedate them if the public would see what the apl does they would be mad they charge to take a pet to them then they turnaround and sell the pet for more money so they get paid twice for the same pet we don't charge anyone who wants to give us a animal because they cant keep it i think people should stop and take a look at what we do all day and we cant be responsible for a pet that we sell after 72 hours and if the new owner calls us as soon as they can in the time frame that's not our fault we can not be responsible for the dog the rest of his life

I dont know about the animals being sick...but I do know that everytime I am in there, I see some puppy all by itself in a small cage with no food, nothing to play with, and it looks sad. They cry when you walk by them because they are begging you to get them out of the cage and show them some attention.
Its very sad.I wish I could afford to buy them all and take them all home with me.

No, it's not your fault if a dog becomes sick after it is taken to a new home. However, selling a sick dog is your fault or, at the very least, the fault of the manager/owner.

The pet store that employs you is no different than any other pet store in this country with too cramped living spaces for the animals and untrained employees.

Your ex-owner was quoted as stating that animals are merchandise and a business is being run. That statement, along with his actions in his various other endeavors, exhibit a disturbing lack of compassion for living creatures.

My only hope is that you are a very young adult and will one day have a better understanding of the English language with which to post. A more intelligent response to the news report was warranted if your goal is to change anyone's mind. I somehow doubt that your owner would be supportive of you telling the public to 'stay the f*** out of our store'.

I was in this store today to a find something rather shocking. Now I understnad that most of the cats there are rescues and when the pet store recieve them they probably are not in the best of the shape. Okay. But what I saw was REVOLTING. Aside from a few of the kittens in the display were rather skinny one kitten caught my eye in particular. The kitten was very small, part of it's fur on it's face was missing as well as its face looked damp. Well the little kitten came to the glass to sleep on another kitten and I swear I almost got sick! The kittens left eye was closed completely a thick yellowish goo at one corner seeping down it's face and the other eye seemed like it was getting an infection. I would like to know what the response is to this. I would like to hear someone TRY to tell me that little animal was not "sick" or that it was being treated. Bull. Further more I took pictures of the poor thing and I plan on going back after filing both a police report as well as contacting the ASPCA. There is no excuse.

To those of you who work there, are you over 18? I, for one, have NEVER seen an adult in that store. The kids I've seen have been rude, and I've never even been greeted. Oh, and forget trying to get some help. They ignore you even standing at the register.
I was in there once and there were TWO dead snakes in a tank with a live one. I told a kid about it and he replied,'Yeah, we know'. No attempt to remove the dead snakes, no concern at all. It's really quite pitiful.

Im like 5 min from Midway Mall. Yes it seems all young kids work there. Most of them are nice and greet us. But those animals are NOT being taken care of. I dont care if you say your bust your ass. Everytime im in there the workers are standing around talking. The dogs never have any water! Obviously you can defend this place all you want but we all know what happened to his store in the other malls.

The whole point of a store is to sell a product and a pet is not some t-shirt or pair of shoes that should be bought at a mall. You probably do work your butt off but because of stores like this and many other mills, back yard breeders, and just plain misinformed people continue to pump these animals out I work my rear off doing rescue and spending every extra dime I can-its exhausting. To go to the mall and see people actually thinking the sick, poorly bred, very young pups are a good choice when I have spent weeks nursing a mill dog back to health is pathetic.

Many of these dogs are ckc registered. Most people don't even realize its different from the akc. And honestly the akc papered dogs are just as likely to be poorly bred or bred to the wrong stud. the thing thats so funny with the ckc is you can take a dog that a RESPONSIBLE breeder gave limited akc papers to and get papers from ckc saying its good enough to breed by them! And if you go to the pound and find a black medium sized dog send in a pic and you can get papers saying that its not only a pure breed back lab-you can breed it and register its puppies! What a great registry! I wish sarcasm came across batter online.

Many people also do not know a pup should not be taken away from mom and litter mates at six weeks. They need to be with them at least till ten weeks-twelve is even better. Dogs do not even begin to learn bite inhibition till around seven weeks. I see so many dogs put down over behavior issues that would probably never have shown themselves if they had just been with mom longer.

Bottom line is no animal should be bred just because it has the parts to do it. If a dog is perfect in conformation and personality of a breed(how the breed should be and not how the breeder thinks it should be) then its time to show the dog to prove this and then do the many health tests can save a lot of heartache for future owners.

Pet stores prey on uninformed people and impulse buyers. People need to be better educated.

And parvo is rampant right now. With anyone being able to go in there and touch a pup there is no way those pups are protected- parvo spreads very easily. You can not even attempt to say none of them have had parvo-there is no way.

Here is a great link on what to look for in a dog breeder

Don't know how I missed this part...

You should never breed/sell an animal if you are not prepared to be responcible for it for the rest of your life. A breeder is no good if they will not stand behind their animals 100% and they need to be willing to take it back at any time-which is why a good breeder will check out who is buying a dog from them and not just sell to whoever hands them the money.

A couple day warranty is a joke-parvo incubates for up to fifteen days and most genetic conditions won't even begin to appear till after two yrs.

And not only are you responcible for that dog that is sold but if you give it full papers/ don't require or do altering you are also responcible for those pups it can create. that is why responcible breeders sell only on a spay/neuter contract.

we are not breeders we just sell animals with a pet agreement and if the buyer does not fallow the agreement we are not responsible

The birds are well taken care of? Ha! They eat a seed only diet which is NOT good for them. The Amazons need their beaks trimmed and one has a swollen eye. The cages are all disgusting. Cherry and the 2 Indian Ringnecks need much bigger cages. I have a Jenday conure and he is in a cage that is taller than I am. There are flies all over the bird cages every time I am there.

No name, i love how you have to defend everything everyone says. I do know it all, and so do these people! If you did such a great damn job you wouldnt of had people protesting at Marcs a few weeks ago. You also wouldnt of had Carl Monday come check out the place. I wish you had to live in the conditions those animals did. You sit in your own sh*t daily, not have any toys to play with, and get water and food what once a day?! Quit defending it you will get NO WHERE. And if your such a good worker why not print your name here? Maybe it will get you off the hook when everyone else gets in trouble for just standing around talking to their friends. Over the weekend i was in there as i said, one TEEN BOY worker was standing around, his friends came in and he told the other worker "oh im going to go with them for a little bit ill be back". But the animals were there with no water or clean cages. GREAT WORKERS YOU ALL ARE.

People don't know how to throw things away like excess bird droppings coating the bottom of a bird cage. Yes, you are right about that. I know what I am talking about because I have 2 birds. I don't know how often the cages are cleaned in that store, but it looks like once a week. If the cages were being cleaned daily they wouldn't look like they do. You should be ashamed of yourself for stating you take good care of any animal in that store.
