Lorain mayor's water turned off for nonpayment | The Columbus Dispatch

Full story: Columbus Dispatch

An Ohio mayor has had his water shut off at home because of an unpaid bill. Mayor Tony Krasienko in Lorain in northeast Ohio says it's "something that slipped through the cracks." He tells The Chronicle-Telegram of Elyria he got a call from home on Tuesday that the water was off.

The fact he's a politican makes him above the rest of us. I think not.
With $96 in previous late fees I'd say he is just stupid and careless. We've all missed a due date at some time in our bill paying lives - but he appears to do it consistently. And I think it is sad that someone making nearly 100K a year can't come up w/$260? Poor management. Glad he is not my mayor.

Elyria (eh-LEER'-ee-uh) for those who live in Bucyrus.

With the $96 in previous late payment fees it looks like this "forgetting" to pay is a chronic issue for him. Not just forgetting to mail one check.

Living beyond our means, Mr. Mayor, shows fiscal irresponsibility. It is news the citizens of Elyria might be interested in.

He makes more then $90K a year and doesn't just pay the entire water bill at once (especially when it sounds like it was less than $300)?

OH MY GOD!!!!! Stop the presses!!!! The man is actually HUMAN!!!! I find it amusing and comforting to know that even "important" people can screw up. He is a person, just like everyone else. This makes him real. I would rather have a real person in charge of my city than one that tries to claim perfection. Being mayor is a job, just like driving a truck or flipping burgers. It doesn't make a person a saint or instantly perfect. Get a grip people. Quit trying to hold other humans to a higher standard just because they hold a title. The guy applied for a job and was hired by the people of the city. How would you all like it if the people that hired you wanted you fired because you paid a bill late?

I did READ it. Thanks though! Maybe his wife is supposed to pays the bills, can't do it on time. Who knows? He should make a change regarding bill paying. My point was, if he wasn't a politican we would never hear about it. If there was an article wrote everytime someone didn't pay a bill thats all we'd see. It would probably blow your mind, if you knew how many politican do have money problems. They sure can't spend ours in a responsible manner. But of course, your probably one these sheople, who thinks the guy( or gal) you support is a Saint. If you are--- KEEP DREAMING!!!!

He's paid $96 in late fees the last two years. That means that although he is paying late, he is paying more for his water than the rest of us, and a lot more than the true deadbeats who get 'subsidized' water bills.

Wow, this is the type of comments, that just show people will never ever be able to have educated conversations about things. I'm pretty sure his political affiliations have nothing to do w/ whether he pays his bills or not. Another great example of online trolling.

My grandparents used to live in Lorain (they have since passed away). I remember when I was a kid (early 1980's) Lorain was a great place to be. My cousins and I used to play in the streets and go to the local park on the corner of Washington Blvd and Meister Rd. Now, you cannot even traverse the roads due to potholes, all the great Lorain schools have closed, churches are closing, and lets not even mention the crime. I don't know who the mayor of Lorain is now but whoever this individual is really needs a reality check. What exactly is this person trying to accomplish. It's obvious that the city and its people are not the governments priority. Maybe the mayor of Lorain has his/her own agenda ($96,500). Its really sad.
