When will people wake up and realize buying from places like this is only futhering the suffering of innocent animals and lining the pockets of the insensitive owners.

Tip off! If you answer an add that lists numerous breeds of puppies for sale, chances are it's a puppy mill. Reputable breeders usually have one breed because they are knowledgeable about the breed and want to breed the best they can. They do not breed each heat cycle of the bitch, as puppy mills do. Who do you think supplies pet stores, not reputable breeders but puppy mills. Because of the weakened and depleated systems of a bitch being bred every heat cycle, puppies are very vulnerable to serious health problems. PA is riddled with puppy mills since Maryland is much stricter, including the Amish puppy mills. I have known several people, my sister included that purchased a lab from an Amish puppy mill. The dog was beautiful and very sweet but as it grew it has serious hip and knee problems requiring expensive surgery. She could not afford the surgery so she humanely had the dog euthanized.
If you want a purebred dog find several reputable breeders, ask lots of questions. Most breeders will welcome your questions and provide all the answers you seek. Purebred dogs can often be found in shelters too.
Until people stop buying puppies from puppy mills and pet stores and laws are enacted to prohibit millers, this will continue at the cost of innocent dogs living a horrible life.

I commend all of you that are trying to shut down these scumbags that profit from the abuse of animals. I would never buy a dog from anyone with a PA Dutch name near Lancaster or Central Pa. These people claim to be so humble and religious, yet cause animals to suffer. I'm sure God would approve of this behavior. What a bunch of hypocrites!

We bought a Newfoundland puppy in lancaster in Sept. 2007. The next day rushed her to a Emergency Vet and was told she had pneunmium and kennel cough. was going to cost upto $6000 to care for her. We got a 2nd opinion the 2nd day and was quoted $3000. We went with the 2nd vet and she came through until 1 month ago and found a heart murmur which cost us $600 for a cardiolgist to find out how bad it is. It was not good. They send she may pass anyday or last years. Well today she had 2 strokes and we are taking her to a vet to evaluate her. This dog only cost us $250 at a country house that had a barn where the puppies were located up in a loft. It seemed okay because the puppies parents were walking around near the house.
I am just wandering was it a front for A PUPPY MILL SOME WHERE ELSE.

I bought what was suppose to be a "pocket puggle" from Joyce, I don't think it is a puggle at all, although I know they may not all look like a normal puggle this one does not look like a puggle at all. I paid alot of money for it and I know it serves me right but I am glad to have saved him from her. I want to find out how I can tell what breeds it is so I can file a court case against her for selling under false pretenses. She is a coniving witch. Has anyone else had this problem with her.

OMG. I have been searching for a puppy. I thought the internet would be an aid in finding one. This lady left a message on my phone and has a dog for me. I don't know what made me look her up on here but I am glad I did. I am not going to buy any thing from her. How on earth do you stop this cruelty to animals. Now I am afraid of buying a puppy at all. You can't trust the pet stores. You can't trust the ads on the net. You can't trust the ads in the newspaper. I can't believe how people do this. They are like natzies. How horrible. What has happened to this world.

i just spoke with a few people that bought puppies from there just like i did. it seems all the puppies had the same problems.... ring worm, kennel cough, parasites, ear infections, etc. one person said that she called joyce and flipped and got all of the vet bills and took them there. she only ended up with $400, but that is better then nothng. it is definately a start! i think i may be going about the same soon here. anyone else with a puppy from puppylove needs to join and take what we can get from her!!!!

Yes - did you have a problem with your dog? I actually bought 2 from them. 1st dog is a bich-poo whose temperment is the best.(unfortunately needs a knee replacement before the age of 2; a genetic problem I'm told) I was suspicious of their operation, but my dog was so perfect I went back 6 weeks later to get another. This time a purebred bichon & a genetic MESS in addition to being sick. That was apparent in less than a day, but there was no way I would have given her back. Many vet visits, even vet neurologist because overbreeding caused congenital brain abnormalities. She is 2 now & like a severely retarded child.

I almost bought puppies from Joyce but found out she had changed names. I have a sister-in-law who bought one from her under her previous name and she has had many genetic problems with her dog. I bought my puppies from TLC Kennel in Mount Joy Pa. and she has a wonderful operation. You would be very impressed with her and she gives you a two year guarantee. Her web address is www.tlckennel.org . I bought two Shih-Poos from her.

I am a rescue coordinator and I'd like to offer a few recommendations:

Don't EVER buy puppies from pet stores, roadside signs, the internet, or from newspaper ads. Pet stores ARE puppymills dealers. It's easy to get papers/registration or claim champion bloodlines. There is a high incidence of health issues (you get what you pay for), agression, poor socialization, kennel cough, worms and communicable diseases like giardia.

If you go to a so-called breeder, they should have no more than one or two breeds, and a very limited number of dogs.

If you want a healthy dog go to either a reputable breeder or rescue group, i.e. interviews YOU to see if you would be a good and responsible pet owner, wants you to take the dog to your vet as soon as possible to make sure you are happy with the dog, and would take the dog back in future if there was a problem.

I've heard all your stories before...and will continue to hear them until stricter regulations comes into play at the Federal, State and local level. Folks tend to do more research on the cars they buy than the dog they want to become a part of their family. Remember that the food on your plate is treated better than the dogs at these places!!
