I was there literally about a week before it closed. I would still swing by for take out. I hope if they do reopen they keep the homemade thousand & garbage salad :-(

Don't know what happened. The place always seemed busy and the food was good. Owners always welcoming. I hope they will reopen. Sorry to here about the employees not getting paid. I guess it's a sign of the times. We have to start giving our local businesses our patronage instead of all these chain stores. Lets start appreciating our local businesses by going to them first before these chains, that are dictating what we like or dislike. Our towns are all getting littered with chain restaurants and every town you drive into looks alike. This has to stop

I was a waitress there for 3 years. Kopper Kitchen was very unorganized financially for as long as I've been there. More than five times I would be paid less than I should have gotten, twice my checks have bounced, and my checks would be given two weeks passed when they should have been passed out. That being said, I absolutely loved my job there. The food was great, the cook Ted was amazing and all the waitresses/waiters were considered true friends. Benny would always take care of you, it was the female owners you had to worry about. It's sad, I went back there to visit them, turns out I came on their closing night...they wouldn't let me eat. What's even worse is that the staff didn't have a warning that they were closing. It breaks my heart because to this day I will compare all restaurants to KK's food/service/etc.

I think Joe was making a sarcastic commentary on the state of the local economy -- i.e., the restaurants are closing but the strip clubs are hanging on. Am I right?
