Term limits...Yes, 1 term
Less Taxes...Yes, we are being fleeced by gov't.
Campaign Funding limits...Yes, check out my signs.

How about family connection limits? Something like if your family was in government for over 3 decades you cannot be!

How about if you have been in government (on a board or elected for over 10 years) you cannot run as an outside reformer?

I voted for Republican,Tony Peraica as apposed to a Democrat Tobolski, a true bobble head. Peraica is the only true reformer on the crook county board. Why send Tobolski a democrat to the top heavy democratic board. We need somebody to speak for us.

Democrat Tobolski unseats Peraica in 16th Cook race

With 200 out of 230 precincts reporting, it appears Democratic challenger Jeff Tobolski has upset incumbent Anthony "Tony" Peraica for the 16th District seat on the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

At 9:43 p.m. Tuesday, 28,693 had voted for Tobolski, compared with 24,643 for the incumbent.

Tobolski, 46, is the village president of McCook, a municipality with 254 residents according to the 2000 census. The village motto as shown on the municipal website is "small town, big dreams."

Indeed, Tobolski had big dreams. There are 148,770 registered voters in the 16th District located in 25 suburbs, plus one precinct in Chicago. That is several rungs up the ladder for Tobolski, who was first appointed village president, then won election on his own.

Tobolski, however, ran a serious campaign. He brought in a campaign manager and has been a much more effective fund-raiser than the incumbent, bringing in $195,000 during the four months preceding the election, according to Illinois State Board of Elections.

Peraica, 53, brought in about $45,000 in the four months preceding the election. Peraica however, has name recognition that comes with eight years on the job and his ability to publicize himself.

Peraica was elected to the board in 2002. He ran for president of the board in 2006 but lost to Todd Stroger.

Peraica got his name out over the weekend when he was arrested in McCook. McCook police say about 11 p.m. Saturday night Peraica was in McCook and damaging property. Specifically, they say that he was tearing down Tobolski's campaign signs.

Peraica, in turn, filed a wrongful arrest lawsuit against McCook police and officials.

At his victory party at J.C.'s Pub in McCook, Tobolski said his win was largely due to Peraica.

"The guy didn't do a damn thing for the people," Tobolski said. "He left the people high and dry."

Once he takes office, Tobolski said he plans to first focus on tax relief and relieving flooding.
