Amtrak goes thru El Paso twice a week. Since freight trains have the right-of-way, it takes about 35 hrs to get to San Antonio where you can transfer to the Texas Eagle to go to Chicago. They unhook your cars and you sit there until the northbound train hooks up. There used to be lots of tracks and train companies in the US but Amtrak was thought up to take their places and then Congress began cutting service. Just because there are tracks doesn't mean there are trains to run on them.<quoted text>We have had rail road tracks 'everywhere' across Texas, and the 'whole' United States since the middle/late 1800's, what is new about rail passenger service, hi-speed or not??? Back-to-the-future?????? Study your History. We've also had airplanes since Wilbur and Orville Wright, and automobiles since before Henry Ford's first Model T.
Frontier Airlines just pulled out of El Paso. Do airlines having money troubles keep up with maintenance? Maybe you enjoy the "see thru" x-ray machines.
I stopped riding Greyhound when security took everything out of my carry on, examined it and threw it back in and couldn't get the bag closed but gave it to me to fix and told me to hurry to get on the bus. They also have a very meandering route to Albuquerque.
There are no railroad tracks from El Paso to Albuquerque.
Maybe you should study events that are a little more current and your Texas geography.
