I heard a rumor that an old friend of mine died. I have not been in touch with anyone back home for a long time but I still love them!!
Does anyone know anything about a guy named Josh who I heard died Mid-February? It is breaking my heart not knowing. We were platonic friends. Discussed art & books. I just want to know if anyone heard anything. I can't beleive it is true. There is nothing in the newspapers but supposedly he was still living in Steuben and he had some kind of accident & died. One person said suicide & info is not released yet.

Joshua Pouwels, a loving father to Eli and Ava, a loving husband to his wife, Danielle, cherished son to Lynn and John, as well as by his siblings, Heather Randall, Seth Pouwels and Jenny Abbott, lost his long and very courageous battle with bipolar disorder Feb. 19, 2007. He was 33 years old.
Many will remember him for his empathy and teaching ability in working with troubled young people. Others will remember him for his artistic talents. His bold use of color and imagery in a perspective rarely seen by others was always present in his work. Joshua has been a pivotal part of the Art Gallery at John Edwards Market for several years.
Joshua will be greatly missed by all who knew him well.
Service will be private. In lieu of flowers, a fund for Joshua’s family has been set up at Union Trust Bank in Ellsworth or may be accepted at John Edwards Market, Ellsworth.

Actually my name is Rebecca P (married now but I posted as last name S in case anyone remebered me from the old days) How did you know Josh? He was an energetic friend. Up for anything. The first time I saw the Statue of Liberty was on the Staten Island Ferry @ about 2 AM with Josh. We argued about Steinbeck & Hemingway. He always had that lopsided grin that stretched across his face. I am sorry he left us. I am happy that he had the opporutnity to have kids. I knew he was bi-polar, I guess that is why we understood each other so well. His empathy & sense of fun & friendship will be greatly missed by everyone who had the opportunity to really know him.
