Mcdonalds will not come into a venture with any business that has competing food offerings. Hot dog roller grill okay but they would not be allowed to offer anything else. Most truck stops want to sell their own foods also and Subway, Quiznos, and few others will let you put anything you want in. McDonalds doesn't want to compete with another restaraunt in the same building.

How did the Pineywoods thread turn into the McDonalds thread? I highly doubt McDonalds was approached at all. The only reason the one in Van Buren survives is because the owner has several other locations which provide the flexibility to work with a store that is close to 0 profit during the cold months. Such a store in Ellsinore would provide close to 0 profit during all months. We do not have a busy season here and if Van Buren didn't then that store would have never went in.

McDonalds does well wherever they go, and that's coming from someone that can't stand McDonalds. Ross Minit Mart in Advance, about the same as Elsinore, 6 gas stations, Blimpies, Hamburger joint, Restaraunt, and everyone else has empty parking lot most of the time. Have to wait in line to get gas at Minit Mart...no other reason but MickeyD's. Their prices are higher than any other convenience store in town but the kid want a Happy Meal. Business 101. If you build it, they will come.

If you're speaking of population, Advance is about 3 times the size of Ellsinore. If you were referring to the size of the building, then that has little if nothing to do with anything. And I wasn't speaking about McDonalds in opinion. I was speaking from knowledge. McDonalds in Van Buren which is roughly double the size of Ellsinore, has been about 1/2 of a step from going out of business on multiple occasions. There is a profit margin they must maintain to stay in business. So really it matters what you build. Each corporation is different and we all know McDonalds will go in anywhere they think there's profit to be made. But there is a limit based on traffic and population as far as what type of business can be sustained in any given location.

I was referring to population in comparison to competition and I have worked directly with McDonalds / Retail parnerships for the last 18 years. Let's not forget 4 lane hwy and truck stop. I am very familliar with VB McDonalds, and you are correct,,,not a good business model. And my origional post w/different name, stated that McDonalds would not enter into relationship with anyone offering competeitive food offerings. So I do not believe McDonalds is in the picture.
