Hi, we just moved to Ellington at the beginning of December, and I have seen three foxes in the area since then. This morning I saw one sniffing about around the gate in our backyard fence (backs onto a small woods). We have two cats, and one is quite small though full grown. Does anyone know of anyone's cats being eaten by foxes? Any advice, etc? It is most appreciated, thanks.

Keep all of your pets inside. A fox will kill a cat and even a small or medium sized dog in a heart beat.

Good luck on your new place!

A fox is the least of your concerns. Cats are like snacks to fisher cats.

Yeah, I have heard about fisher cats and they are very scary. I sat and watched a dozen youtube vids the other night (cat v fox) and the cat got the better of the fox every time. But fisher cats - that's a different story.
How common are they in the Ellington area, d'you know?

I've always loved nature but they make me want to buy a gun and shoot as many as I can!

I live in Ellington also. Have had no problems with foxes. Coyotes (coydogs) have been an issue in past years and regularly see one in my neighborhood. Fisher cats sound like a baby being murdered at night...scary and awesome hunters. Had one near us for a while but nothing lately. Don't forget we moved in on them not the other way around. I would want a soft lazy house cat for a snack if I was a lean wild hunter! My pitbull boxer on the other hand keeps those critters away.

Those things make me sick. I was always a "we moved in on them" type myself, but you have to take care of your investmens - one of our cats cost us $1200 last week after it drank some ethylene glycol laced water from caulking....

not just gonna let that little kitty get taken by some weasel.

Fisher cat spotted on Lanz Lane about 2 weeks ago. Ugly little buggers. My cats are all inside cats, and when I saw that thing nearby my kids became inside kids for a few days too =)

My cat disappeared about 3 weeks ago. Then about 5 days ago my other cat disappeared. The I started to notice the squirrels in my yard are no more. I was told that a fisher cat was let loose in Cheshire to get rid of the squirrel population.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aquarius

The more you want to control someone, or someone wants to control you, the more difficult life will be today. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so the last thing you should do now is to act as though you own this person, or tell them what to do, because it will be an instant recipe for rebellion and trouble. Mars is retro in your house of significant others and open enemies after all. If you don't want to spoil the evening's celebrations you'll have to make compromises, and hope that this other person will do the same. Don't let the fuss stop you having a very happy New Year's Eve.
