It's a shame that a town like Ellington can show that a multi-faith population can live peacefully and the rest of the world ignores their example. May their be many more Ellingtons in the world in the very near future. We need them.

Why is it that we read about people in the world putting down America but we are the only country that has as much multi cultural people. I would say that most people are not willing to accept and live together because they are of one faith and one Race In their own country.

It's the best country on earth, and people are still dying to get here from all over the world. Yet we have a president traveling the world apologizing and bowing.

Go figure.

You can thank his predecessor for that.

If it wasn't for Bush, Obama wouldn't have to be doing all that.

Unless they have a Science of Mind church, I am not interested in the so-called "diversity" of hatred. I mean "religion."

Even for you, that's just plain ignorant, and that's saying something.

Uh huh.

If it wasn't for the millions from the Saudi princes for Obama's election campaign, he wouldn't be bowing to them.

If it wasn't for Obama's communist educators and handlers, he wouldn't be apologizing.

America has nothing to apologize for.

But for where Obama's allegiances lie, he has plenty to apologize for. To Americans.

It's nice that there are places where people of different faiths can live peacefully. Being somewhat of a foody, I'm hoping more quaility local resaturants, from different cultures and religions, will open up. It gives us a chance to experience something from another culture and perspective. I know that muslims have strict rules on food preparation, but don't know of any good local halal restaurants in CT. Even in NYC you have to ask around to find them. I used to live in Queens and we had really good Indian, Columbian and Afgan food in our neighborhood. I miss the variety. Even the pizza in Connecticut is second rate.

Geo, you need to ravel more. All of western Europe is multicultural. We are not unique by any standard in this regard.

I just hope they do a better job planning future developement. Rt 83 in Ellington is becoming an ugly extension of Vernon and they need to do a better job preserving open space. But I agree it is a nice town with good schools.

Way to go Ellington.
"In his books, Obama admits attending "socialist conferences" and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a "hard-core academic Marxist," which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank.""

The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What's more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations.
