I thought this would be a good place to get some names & numbers of good local contractors that build Covered Porches and install metal roofing for reasonable prices and good reputations. THe Phone book does not seem to have any of the 'small businesses' listed ...Can you provide suggestions on who to call for estimates for this work ? Thank YOu!

The best thing to do is talk to people who have had this kind of work done. Call at least 3 companies for a quote. Are they license and bonded? Usually it's paid for in 2 installments. Get a signed contract stating the job is guaranteed for a least a year upon completion, however, stating that it will not be complete until ALL work is done to YOUR satisfaction. That's what I have on the work I had done. It's not completed to my satisfaction. I'm waiting for my contrator to come do the walk thru with me. This is someone that has worked for me for years, so I trust him completely. He's had a family emergency. I understand that. He'll call me soon though. Remember permits they need also.(cheapest is not always best)What you're looking for is "reasonable" prices and good work. My contractor told me a shingle roof and a metal roof would cost me about the same. That is simply a personal choice. I have seen metal roofs blow up in high winds when my shingle roof sustained no issues. I haven't decided what I want the next roof I get. I'm still thinking about it but I know who my contractor will be and that's a real blessing.

Thank you for the comment, however, that still does not answer the question of whom to call.:)

My father in law just got Keith Pritchett Roofing. He got 3 or 4 est and they were not the cheapest but they were also not the most expensives. He watched every step they made and they did a great job and it was done in less than 1 week.

Do the work yourself. Find the one that suits you best. I found mine own, so you do the same.

Ga Girl, as my aunt used to say, 'you're meaner than a striped mule'. And you seem to pride yourself on that.

I'm not mean, Gilmer Girl. I'm just teasing you. I wouldn't deliberately hurt anyone's feelings. Really I'm just teasing you. Just laugh with me and enjoy my sense of humor. I don't mean any offense by it.

Unfortunately a lot of people do not have a sense of humor. I think you're funny. Maybe we both have warped senses of humor.

Another quote re: the Corps. "The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!"

Thanks! I really don't mean any harm. We take ourselves so seriously sometimes. My sense of humor has gotten me thru lots of bad times of late. I really don't mean any harm by it. It's just part of being me.

I paid over 13k for 16 squares of metal roofing with installation, on a 1100 sq ft house.
It was really nice in the presentation, with a story about lifetime warranty and anodized metal screws that matched the roof color, new metal facings and my my my I was impressed hook line and sinker.

When the proper anodized metal screws and facings did not show up in the system package, I found them putting silver home store screws in my new roof, and then a guy painting them up there.
Now, I have a over priced roof,no metal facings, painted screws that will chip in one Az sun season or maybe 2 if I am lucky. Guess what that means kids....no lifetime warrranty, and I am stuck.

The roofing company was the name of the roofing system brand, but it didn't matter.
We live in the good ole USA, where nothing has any viable credibility anymore. Just be aware that it is not going to go well and you get ripped, then go for home improvement with that knowledge.
Enjoy the homestore paint all over your brand new new over priced fancy pants roof, with no valid warranty. No roof venting means my power bill is higher now.
The metal facings?
What metal facings?

My suggestion?
Know what exactly is supposed to be in the system box delivery, and if it is not there, call the police and throw the smarty pants roofers and their faulty problems off of your property fast.

Duck and cover the metal roofers are out and lurking about.

Whatever you decide, the A-1 roof man or whatever he calls his company now is no good. Jay Diamond is not the way to go. Not only is he a con, but the BBB will speak for itself. Numerous complaints as well as a few lawsuits I believe.

That is good info. Since the hail storm, I have been looking for a "reputable" roofer to redo my roof, as well.
